Anika is a clinical social worker who takes a psychodynamic, person-centered, and strengths-based approach to psychotherapy, tailoring the process to meet the unique needs of each of her clients. Through empathy and accountability, she works with individuals to explore and identify the motivations behind their behaviors, in order to help them make empowered and healthy choices.
Anika has a passion for working with and supporting individuals who are dealing with relationship stress, life adjustments and transitions, body image and self-esteem concerns, and anxiety and depression. As a clinician, she believes in nurturing physical and emotional health as part of a holistic approach to wellness, in order to achieve balance and happiness. With a strong conviction in the benefit and need for self-care, Anika prioritizes physical fitness in her daily life.
Outside of her time at Refresh Psychotherapy, Anika works at the Counseling and Wellness Services office at Hunter College, providing individual counseling and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) focused psychoeducation workshops on topics including mastering anxiety, stress management, preventing procrastination, and fostering healthy relationships, among others. She previously worked with a community-based crisis response network, providing support to at-risk individuals in the greater New York City area.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Anika earned a bachelor’s degree from New York University and a master’s degree from Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work.
