I am Dr. Wendy Whinnery, currently living in Phoenix, Arizona, where I serve as the Program Chair for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at the University of Phoenix campus. I relocated from Northern New York one year ago to take on this role, bringing with me over a decade of clinical experience and a deep commitment to counselor education. My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance (clarinet), a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a PhD in Counselor Education with a specialization in trauma and crisis. I’ve been a practicing clinician since 2012 and hold licensure as an LPC-S in Arizona and an LMHC-D in New York. I’m also a Nationally Certified Counselor, a Board Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and an Approved Clinical Supervisor. Outside of my professional life, I’m married with two adult daughters, their wonderful spouses, and four amazing grandchildren who are the light of my life. Our home is joyfully shared with three spirited Shetland Sheepdogs—Jafar, Iago, and Princess Jazmine.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
