Hi there, I'm Anita! I am so glad you're here. I am a licensed clinical psychologist, and I specialize in helping children, families, and adults develop new patterns to support their well-being. As a mom of two, a college professor, and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I understand what it is like to manage the busy, difficult world we live in today. I am honored to be a member of your team, working together to meet your mental health goals. You've taken an important first step by beginning the search for a therapist. Let's begin our journey together! My approach I am trained as a Cognitive-Behavioral therapist, though at this stage in my career, I use an eclectic mix of techniques from a variety of approaches. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a research-supported, flexible, and versatile approach that can be used for children and adults, for a variety of disorders. CBT focuses on changing one's thoughts and behaviors in order to change how one feels. In addition, my therapeutic work is grounded in the humanistic approach, which recognizes the individuality of each person and emphasizes the importance of showing empathy, genuineness, and positive regard to help clients achieve their best selves. Finally, I think mindfulness and self-compassion are critical elements to mental health, and I incorporate activities to build these skills in most of my work with clients. My focus I have three areas of emphasis in my clinical work: 1) working with children 12 and under and/or their parents, 2) working with women and gender non-conforming people who are trying to become pregnant or dealing with infertility, and 3) working with LGBTQ+ individuals of any age who are struggling with living happily in our current world. Throughout all of my clinical work, I advocate for fair treatment of BIPOC people and an equitable and inclusive world for all individuals. I have expertise helping children and adults with a variety of mental health issues, including ADHD, Autism.
