About Avelina Vilas

Avelina is a Louisiana native who earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University before receiving her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Texas State University. She has completed advanced training in pelvic health through the IAMT Pelvic Health Development Training Program, Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, and Women’s Health Training Associates, where she also became certified in pessary fitting. She is also certified in dry needling. With over a decade of clinical experience, Avelina specializes in pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic pain, core dysfunction, and sports-related injuries, with a particular passion for prenatal and postpartum rehabilitation. She has developed and led strength and return-to-exercise programs to help patients rebuild strength, move confidently, and return to the activities they love. Avelina takes a holistic, patient-centered approach to care, emphasizing education, functional movement, and sustainable habits that support long-term health. As a physical therapist, mom, and marathoner, she brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her work and enjoys helping patients of all levels feel stronger and more confident in their bodies. Outside of the clinic, Avelina enjoys running, traveling, spending time with her family and her English Golden Retriever, and cheering on the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints. She is a Boston Qualifier and has also lived and worked in Copenhagen.
