About Camryn Gessner

Camryn graduated from Ithaca College, where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Health Studies with a minor in Sport and Exercise Psychology. During her studies Camryn completed extensive research on “The Benefits of Aquatic Therapy in Conjunction with Land-Based Physical Therapy for Rehabilitation after Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Case Series”, where she received an award for outstanding research at Ithaca College’s Academic Symposium. She was also inducted in Ithaca College’s chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society for ranking in the top 10% of her graduate class. During her clinical rotations, Camryn immersed herself in outpatient orthopedic settings where she gained exposure to a wide variety of diagnoses, populations, and treatment interventions. Her training included manual therapy, evidence-based education, therapeutic exercise, and incorporating psychological concepts she learned throughout her minor to promote positive behavioral and emotional outcomes through her rehabilitation. She learned to treat with a patient-centered approach with the highest level of evidence, while building strong, trusting, and worthwhile therapeutic alliances in an effort to return her patients to the activities they love. Camryn’s interests in Physical Therapy were solidified after working as a physical therapy aide on Long Island after taking her first Anatomy course in high school. Through this experience she became passionate about helping others, especially when it came to getting them back to their best. This laid down the groundwork for the future Physical Therapist she wanted to become. Camryn grew up on Long Island and is excited to be back in the area doing what she loves. In her spare time, Camryn enjoys spending time with family and friends, being out on the water, attending country concerts, CrossFit, running, and motivating people around her to be extraordinary.
