Dr. Craig Wetterer, PhD

Psychologist
CA
My name is Dr. Craig Wetterer, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in California and Nevada. I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, drawing from cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused theoretical models. I focus on depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, adjustment to work stress, and sleep disorders. My approach My primary approach is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and within this framework, I offer Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Schema Therapy, CBT for insomnia (CBT-i), and standard CBT. My focus My typical client is someone experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety, often connected to unexpected life events or circumstances that have overwhelmed their coping ability. My communication style From the beginning, I set a tone of transparency, openness, and trust, which helps clients feel confident in sharing information that facilitates the healing process. My journey to therapy Having spent much of my early career serving the community as a peace officer, I witnessed firsthand the adverse impact mental illness has on people’s lives. I also saw that many individuals lack access to effective mental health treatment—a problem only magnified by the pandemic. Being part of the solution to improve access to mental health care is a passion of mine, and seeing people thrive after treatment is deeply fulfilling. My goals for you In our first session, we work together to formulate specific, time-limited treatment goals that are measurable and reasonably achievable. Progress is regularly assessed throughout treatment to ensure these goals remain on track. My first session with you During the initial session, we focus on identifying the most pressing problems you would like to address in therapy.
