Dr. Crissy Miyake, PsyD

Psychologist
PA
Hi there, I'm Crissy! I’m a licensed clinical psychologist in Pennsylvania and have enjoyed working with adolescents and adults for over 15 years. My approach My work is largely grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also have specialized training in Trauma-Focused CBT and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and will incorporate aspects of these modalities into trauma recovery work. My focus While I work with clients across the lifespan, throughout my career, I have been most passionate about supporting diverse, indigenous, and marginalized populations. I am a strong ally of the LGBTQ+ community, honor the importance of intersectionality in identity and experience, and personally enjoy working with women’s issues, and intergenerational immigrant and acculturation issues. I also have a personal understanding of the unique life challenges for active duty military members, their families, and veterans, and have extensive experience treating trauma. My communication style Former clients have described me as “down to earth,” warm, and direct. Sessions are a collaboration, and conversations are a mixture of guided topic discussion, discovery, and fluid exploration. My approach naturally incorporates humor, and I often recommend resources (readings, worksheets, podcasts, etc.) to reinforce the work in sessions. My journey to mental healthcare As someone who is more of an introvert, I find that I tend to gravitate away from superficial social interactions and instead prefer deeper, more meaningful conversations. This innate desire to understand others in a more profound way helps me work effectively with clients and continues to make my work interesting and rewarding. My goals for you Most of my clients complete therapy in 8-12 sessions, having met their initial goals. We do this together by first identifying attainable objectives, developing a plan, and continually monitoring progress to evaluate any need.
