About David Chen

David is a New Jersey State licensed Physical Therapist who has been working with Professional Physical Therapy since 2017 after earning his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Rutgers University. David graduated from the Professional PT-NYIT Orthopedic Residency Program in 2019 and is an ABPTRFE Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. His clinical experience includes treating patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, with focus on return-to-sport and injury prevention. In addition to sports rehabilitation, David has a special interest in treating spine, knee and shoulder pathologies, as well as post-operative rehabilitation. His approach is to personalize evidence-based treatment toward patient’s specific needs in order to maximize recovery efficiency. He believes empowering patients to take an active role in their recovery with early patient education to maximize benefits of rehabilitation. David serves on Professional PT-NYIT’s faculty for the Orthopedic Residency Program providing clinical training to resident physical therapists. He is also a Mentor in our Clinical Excellence Department, providing guidance and mentorship to novice physical therapists across the state. David is a certified Blood Flow Restriction therapist, completed the Level 1 Selective Functional Movement Assessment, and McKenzie Method Part A Lumbar Spine certifications.
