About Derek Sanchez

Derek’s interest in sports medicine began in 1993 after a sports-related injury ended his football career. He then joined the sports medicine team of the San Antonio Texans (CFL). His injuries were treated by Athletic Trainer Bernie LaReau, former therapist and athletic trainer for the Chicago Bears, San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, and San Antonio Texans. This experience planted the seed for Derek’s passion in the field. Mr. LaReau welcomed Derek to join his team of physical therapists and trainers, which marked the beginning of his exposure to rehabilitation and sports medicine. Derek furthered his expertise by earning a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from UT Health San Antonio (University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio).
