She is originally from Scranton, PA, and received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Scranton. After working as a drug and alcohol counselor, Dr. Kassler moved to Memphis, TN to pursue additional graduate work. She subsequently received a Master of Science in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Memphis. She holds licensure as a Psychologist in Texas, New York, and North Carolina as well as national certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor. She is also a member of PsyPACT which allows for telehealth practice across more than 30 states. Dr. Kassler's clinical experience has included individual and group therapy with adults spanning such issues as depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, and anger management. These continue to be her main areas of focus. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Kassler has taught several courses at the university and community college levels. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work, University of Texas at Austin. In her spare time, Dr. Kassler enjoys playing cards, board games, and video games, as well as traveling, reading, and spending time with her four-legged furry “children".
