What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me starts with a free 15-minute consultation where we talk about what's bringing you in and whether we're a good fit. If we decide to work together, our first full session focuses on understanding your story—what's happening in your life and relationships, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping will be different. I create space for you to share what feels most important while I ask thoughtful questions to get the full picture. By the end, we'll have clarity on your goals and how we'll work together. My style is warm, collaborative, and intentional. I'm genuinely curious about what makes you tick and what's getting in the way of the connection or fulfillment you're seeking. I ask questions that help you see things from new angles, and I'll gently challenge thoughts or behaviors that aren't serving you anymore. But I do this with care—therapy should feel like a partnership, not like being told what to do. Progress in my practice isn't just about feeling better—it's about creating real, lasting change. You'll notice shifts like communicating more effectively, understanding why certain dynamics keep repeating, setting healthier boundaries, or feeling more confident in your relationships and dating life. We work at a pace that feels sustainable for you, moving between understanding and action in ways that feel manageable. I work best with people who are open to self-reflection and willing to try new approaches, even when it feels uncomfortable. Whether you're coming in as an individual, couple, or family, expect sessions that are structured yet flexible, reflective yet action-oriented. I'll support you fully while also pushing you gently toward growth. One important note: my practice is built on creating genuinely affirming space. You won't need to explain or defend who you are or how you love—my goal is for you to focus on the actual work you came to do.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

After our initial session where we establish goals, ongoing sessions follow a structure that's both consistent and flexible. We start by checking in on what's most pressing for you that week—a recent conflict, a pattern you noticed, or something from previous work you've been thinking about. From there, we dive deeper into understanding what's happening beneath the surface. For individuals, sessions often move between exploring your relational history and attachment style, examining current relationship or dating challenges, and identifying concrete changes you want to make. We might look at how you choose partners, handle conflict, what triggers relationship anxiety, or how family dynamics from your past show up in your present. Between sessions, I might ask you to notice patterns, try new communication approaches, or practice setting boundaries. For couples, we focus on the dynamics between you—how you communicate, where disconnection happens, and what each person needs to feel valued. I help you understand the cycle you're stuck in and interrupt it with new ways of responding. Sessions involve both partners sharing perspectives while I help translate what's underneath the conflict. You'll leave with specific tools to practice between sessions. For families, I work to understand how everyone relates to each other, where communication breaks down, and what roles each person plays in the system. We identify patterns that aren't working and explore new ways of interacting. Sessions are typically 50 minutes and most clients meet weekly, though we can adjust based on your needs. Therapy isn't endless—we regularly check in on goals and assess progress. Some clients see significant shifts in a few months; others benefit from longer-term work. We'll talk openly about when it might make sense to reduce frequency or end therapy. Throughout our work, I stay actively engaged—asking questions, offering observations, and suggesting new tools and strategies to try.
