Hi there, I'm Emily! Everyone needs to be seen and heard. Therapy, at its core, is a place for this need to be met. In our work together, you will be seen for who you truly are. Whatever you bring with you to session will be heard. We will work together to better understand you and your challenges. I will support you in figuring out your needs and goals. My focus I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, parents, and families across various settings. At this time, I primarily work with adults challenged by depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, self-harm, and suicidality. I also work with clients on grief and loss, relationship difficulties, gender identity, anger management, and building self-esteem. My approach I believe therapy comes in many shapes and forms. Sometimes, it is simply a place to be heard. Other times, it may delve deeper into your past, your relationships, and your emotions. Therapy can also be a place to obtain skills, tools, and resources. Each client has unique needs. It is my job to work alongside my clients to meet those needs. My communication style Helping my clients feel comfortable and safe is my priority. I strive to build trust through empathy, attentive listening, unconditional care, and validation. I tend to follow my client's lead in session and meet them where they are. I can be directive, if needed, but letting my client take up space and vocalize their needs is of utmost importance. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to make a career change as a single mom in my early 30's. My son started Kindergarten the same day I started graduate school. I pursued both my master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. My education and training largely focused on multicultural and community psychology.
