Gabriella grew up as an athlete, throwing shotput and discus for track and field in high school. The sport required significant strength, coordination, and stabilization of the upper extremity which sparked her interest in the complexities of the upper extremity. She then began her undergraduate degree at Montclair State University, building a foundation of knowledge and skills for the field of occupational therapy and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Throughout her time in undergrad, she began to observe and volunteer in various occupational therapy settings. After observing and working as an OT aide in a clinic dedicated to upper extremity rehabilitation for several years, she knew this was the field she needed to pursue. She entered Kean University's doctoral program for occupational therapy and continued to pursue her love for upper extremity rehabilitation. She completed a level II clinical fieldwork in an upper extremity clinic in Newark, NJ, primarily working with individuals who sustained traumatic injuries whiles working. Following graduation, she began to work as an OT aide for Professional Hand Therapy as she studied for her NBCOT exam. She is passionate about the field of upper extremity rehabilitation due to the substantial role that the hands play in the ability to engage in everyday and meaningful activities. Gabriella has clinical aspirations of becoming a certified hand therapist.
