About Gwen Giffard

Gwen received both her Doctor of Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Science degrees from Ithaca College. As a young girl, she began a 14-year competitive Irish dancing career during which she sustained numerous injuries. After several years of attending physical therapy, she decided to pursue it as a career. Gwen has clinical experience in various settings, including acute care and outpatient orthopedics. She has treated several populations, including post-surgical patients, geriatrics, pediatrics, and high-level dancers, gymnasts, and athletes. Her dance background has inspired her to specialize in treating dancers, gymnasts, figure skaters, and other performing artists. She has had the opportunity to work with dancers from Rochester City Ballet, Garth Fagan Dance, and The Draper Center. Additionally, she worked as a PT aide at Connecticut Dance Physical Therapy throughout college. Gwen believes physical therapy is a team effort between therapist and patient. Both must be dedicated to working together to rehabilitate the patient to their optimal level of performance and to prevent future injuries. After retiring from Irish dance, Gwen played intramural volleyball and enjoyed tennis with friends. She continues to stay active by playing recreational tennis, skiing, hiking, and lifting weights.

Gwen was a very attentive physical therapist. She asked me to perform several exercises to identify areas of pain, and gave me detailed instructions on exercises I should do at home. She then sent me an email with video instructions of those exercises. Overall, I had a great experience, my insurance was accepted and the staff were very friendly.

Gwen is the best. So upbeat and motivating, what you would want is a PT. She really wants you to heal and give great exercuses. I have been for many times for various allments and it has always healed with her guidance.
Gwen was extremely attentive to my needs, as well as very direct when giving direction during my PT session. I also enjoyed that any questions I had about continuing my therapy on my own during the week had specific direction to get the best possible outcome.

Gwen is as professional as she is passionate about patient care. She takes time to understand her patient's current condition and ideal condition. She then develops a comprehensive program where the at-home care is a perfect complement to the in-clinic exercises in order to get you back in shape. She is very personable and VERY knowledgable. During COVID, I also had the chance to partake in telehealth sessions, and she was able to provide the same level of care and expertise that she did in-clinic. I would highly recommend anyone that wants to get back to physical activity while having fun doing it see Gwen.
Gwen has treated multiple injuries for me and does so with care, concern, and attentiveness. She always takes the extra time for manual adjustments & explaining different muscle yocups. She is a pleasure to be treated by both in-person & virtually!
