What should a new client know about working with you?

Many adults with ADHD come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or frustrated after years of feeling misunderstood, falling behind, or struggling to manage daily responsibilities in the way they want to. My goal is to create a space that feels supportive, collaborative, and grounded in understanding how ADHD, culture, identity, and life experiences can all shape mental health. I work primarily with adults navigating ADHD, anxiety, stress, and life transitions, including clients who are exploring the possibility of ADHD later in life. I also provide culturally responsive care for BIPOC, bicultural, and first-generation individuals. In our first sessions, we’ll take time to better understand what’s been feeling difficult, what patterns keep showing up, and what changes you’re hoping for. Together, we’ll create practical strategies that fit your real life rather than aiming for perfection. Therapy may focus on areas such as organization, emotional regulation, self-esteem, relationships, or reducing the shame and self-criticism that often accompany ADHD. My style is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), strengths-based therapy, multicultural therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I also adapt the level of structure in sessions based on what works best for you. All therapy sessions are currently offered virtually for adults located in California. Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and you do not need to have everything figured out before getting started.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first sessions are a chance to better understand what’s been feeling difficult, what patterns keep showing up, and what changes you’re hoping for. Many adults with ADHD come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, burned out, frustrated with themselves, or constantly feeling behind despite trying very hard. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and practical. Sessions are a space to better understand how ADHD, stress, anxiety, culture, identity, relationships, and life experiences may all be interacting with one another. Together, we’ll identify strategies that fit your real life rather than aiming for perfection. Depending on your needs, therapy may include exploring patterns in thoughts and emotions, building organizational or coping strategies, improving emotional regulation, reducing self-criticism, strengthening communication, or navigating life transitions and relationships. I also adapt the level of structure in sessions based on what works best for you. Some clients prefer more space to process, while others benefit from a more structured, goal-oriented approach. Therapy does not require having everything figured out beforehand, and we move at a pace that feels manageable and supportive.
