Getting to know Dr. Jason Witmer

As a psychiatrist and therapist, I help people dealing with a range of questions, including deciding who and how to love, how to create family and community, finding meaning and success in work, how to cope with loss, issues related to gender, identity, and race, and how to overcome anxiety and depression. My training includes completing medical school and residency at Baylor College of Medicine. I have also trained in mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy, completing a two-year post-graduate fellowship at the Houston Center for Psychoanalytic Studies. The treatments I use are supported by scientific evidence, and may include medications, therapy, or both. I collaborate with clients to identify their values and support them as they choose their own unique paths to self-discovery and growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Initial session: $375 for 45 minutes Ongoing session: $210 for 30 minutes, $275 for 45-60 minutes Following an appointment booking, I will personally contact you to speak briefly regarding whether we might be a good fit.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I will spend our initial visits getting to know you as a person and learning about your psychological, medical, and relationship history. I will then collaborate with you to develop the best treatment plan to achieve your goals. The first session is one hour and follow-up sessions are 30 to 45 minutes. Therapy options include insight-oriented psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, supportive psychotherapy, and mindfulness techniques. Psychotherapy appointments generally occur once or twice a week, but I will work with you to decide on the frequency that would best meet your needs. These appointments are 45 minutes. Depending on your needs, medication may be helpful. I have pharmacological expertise in managing many mood and anxiety disorders. I will take a collaborate approach with you to find the treatment that works best for you. These appointments are 30 to 45 minutes. In order to provide the quality of service you deserve, I don't exchange email in place of appointments.

Great provider. Thoughtful and meticulous. In network psychiatrists may be cheaper but you get what you pay for in terms of experience, bedside manner and efficacy.

Dr. Witmer was such a great listener. He made me feel comfortable and heard for the first time in years. I’m so grateful to have a psychiatrist with experience in treating adults with ADD/ADHD.

Dr. Witmer was absolutely great!! I didn't do an in office visit, my visit with Dr. Witmer was over/through a ZOOM meeting because of the long distance his physical office is from where I live & it was just much more convenient to do our visit over/through a ZOOM meeting which was perfect for me! The ZocDoc rating system didn't have any place to rate a ZOOM meeting so that is why I answered some of the questions that were asked of me about how his office was & thing's like that how I did! Also I don't have any insurance but their again the ZocDoc rating system didn't give me any choice for no insurance & that's why I said not sure for that question cause I didn't want to say either yes or no cause either answer would have been a lie! Overall Dr. Witmer seemed very caring, affable, he actually let me just speak instead of interrupting me every other word I was trying to say! He just listened to what I had to say & THEN gave his opinion or answer, I liked that!! Very highly recommend??

Highly recommend Dr Witner. When I was looking for a physiatrist in New York City their rates were astronomical for out of network Medicare. A friend recommended ZOCDOC which connected me to this compassionate Dr with reasonable rates.

Great doctor with a kind demeanor! I felt so comfortable and was able to speak about my issues without being judged or put into a box. Very calm and a great listener . I will be seeing again.

It was great. He was very normal and kind and not weird. He seemed understanding. It just seemed like I was talking to a regular person as opposed to getting grilled and judged how some psychiatrists seem in the first 'get to know you' appointment. He was really fast with everything he had to do on his end. I had a really good experience. I would look forward to appointments in the future and not dread them.
