“My recovery from trigger thumb surgery was excellent and that was due to the work and expertise from my hand therapist, John Gianfortone at Professional Physical Therapy in Port Jefferson, NY. He was very responsive to my needs and had a comprehensive action plan for my recovery. I was concerned about how fast I might be able to participate in the activities I enjoy such as cycling and using tools for hobbies. I was amazed at how fast I was able to heal. John knew not only the best exercises to allow me to return to my active lifestyle but he also tailored my treatment plan according to my individual needs. I very much appreciate his help and I recommend him.”

“The therapy sessions were well-designed to be both challenging and motivating. I always felt like I was making progress. The therapists struck a good balance between challenging me to improve and providing the positive support I needed to succeed. This kept me consistently motivated throughout my therapy. Special thanks to John and Joann!! Great team of OTs.”

About John Gianfortone

Having an interest in health, fitness, and sports, I attended Suffolk County Community College, where I obtained my AAS. I then practiced as a physical therapist for seven years in an orthopedic sports rehab clinic. In 1995, I entered the Occupational Therapy program at Stony Brook University, part of the State University of New York system, to further advance my education and obtained a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy in 1997. I worked for Southside Hospital for seven years, with rotations through the in-patient Brain Injury Unit, Acute Rehab, Med Surge Acute Care, and the Outpatient unit, which helped me advance my skills in Hand Therapy. I became a Certified Hand Therapist in 2006 and began working in private practice. In 2016, I joined Professional PT and OT along with the staff from Robert Wilutis Hand Therapy.
