About Dr. Johnny Lathrop

We submit claims directly to your insurance on an OUT-OF-NETWORK basis and collect reimbursement directly from them so you can focus on your recovery. This model allows us to work one-on-one with our patients without the use of Physical Therapy Assistants and Aides. We believe in giving people the same treatment, in the same environment, that we would want to be treated in; focused care with fewer people involved is key to consistent and effective treatment. Our mission is to provide our patients with such quality care that they thank the person who referred them and confidently recommend us to those they care about. As an OUT-OF-NETWORK provider, we submit claims directly to insurance and accept reimbursement from them. What a patient owes out-of-pocket depends on their insurance plan’s benefits, which we will gladly verify prior to the first appointment. I hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, which informs my commitment to delivering personalized, high-quality care.

He was extremely professional --very helpful on diagnosing the issues and giving me a forward plan to resolve the problems
John is great. Very knowledgeable and personable. Small practice where I got his undivided attention during my visits.

Finally, a PT that works 1:1. One visit got me feeling 100x better than any other place I've been to. Awesome PT!
Short wait time. Came in with pelvic/hip pain and John worked 1:1 with me to help improve mobility.
I am going back. Super professional and knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with.

Johnny is the best PT I've worked with. He not only tells you what to do, but explains why, going into great detail about anatomy and muscles involved in your recovery and will set you up with a good home exercise plan. It's not the typical factory or assembly line model where you see the PT for a few and are then shuffled on to the assistant, while the PT takes another client. He actually watches you so that he can correct your form and help you see any mistakes. Lastly, even when you are no longer his patient he will respond to quick questions if you need a little refresher to get back on track.
John is very friendly and great at his job, he was able to address my concerns efficiently and offer multiple tools that I can use going forward.
John is amazing! I had some serious issues, and he helped me immensely. I’m much better because of him. He is super knowledgeable, competent and friendly. I recommend him to everyone I know who needs help from a great physical therapist.
John was super helpful and effective at treating my issues, he helped me with a few injuries I developed from climbing. Highly recommend.
Johnny is fantastic! Helped me get back on my feet after a bad skiing knee injury. Always explaining what and why we are doing things. Attentive and super knowledgeable about all things PT. Would highly recommend.
John is always incredibly comprehensive in diagnosing and treating issues. I have visited him for several ailments, and he has successfully provided a long term framework for managing each one. Super friendly as well!
John is effective and comprehensive on examination and giving instructions, at the same time he is communicative. I have a great time.
I'm really happy with the care I got with John. I've been skeptical of physical therapy because my past three experiences at other locations felt like I was in the middle of a zoo and being treated by teenagers. I can't say enough great things about John and the level of care that he gives. I haven't been able to run for almost ten years now because of several injuries to my knees, as well as sciatica. I'm happy to say that I now run three times per week and am truly grateful for finding John.
John is a great physical therapist! He’s patient, thorough with his assessment and treatment, and explains everything well. Highly recommend!
The environment were my visits took place is inspiring to a prompt recovery besides being professional clean cheerful and well structured. Johnny does an amazing job with dedication and commitment as you would expect from one of the top professionals in the industry in NYC
John is an excellent therapist. Very professional and very knowledgeable. He helped me get through my knee pain with his excellent hands on treatment as well as teaching me proper mechanics with my gait, proper shoes to wear, braces to get, exercises, etc. I would highly recommend his services, especially if you’re an active person like I am.
I am a competitive CrossFit athlete and John treated my shoulder for some nagging pain that I was having from the high demand I was putting it under while training for a competition. I couldn’t be more pleased with the service he provided. I was back to training pain-free far sooner than I imagined I would be! I am not back to Olympic lifting, doing muscle-ups, handstand push-ups, etc without any issues and feel stronger than ever. The best part is he didn’t just fix the issue of pain and send me on my way like a lot of therapists do. Instead he gave me corrective exercises to consistently work on to help prevent it from reoccurring. Thank you, John!!
I’ve been an auto mechanic for over 20 years. Swinging hammers and getting into tight spots starting giving me a pain in my neck into my shoulder. Moving, I always had a strong pinch feeling. I was recommended by a friend to go to John. I saw him once a week for a few weeks. Gave me things to do at home in between to keep it moving. Quickly it went to every other week. He made everything feel amazing. AND, no pain after treatment. Absolutely amazing. Highly recommend to everyone with any kind of pain!!
I’ve had physical therapy on my low back and sciatica a few times throughout the years. John’s been by far the best therapist I’ve had. His treatments are all hands-on and one-on-one, which is what I wanted to try this time. We had a lot in common and it was a joy to be able to work with John. I honestly thought golf and tennis would be out of the question for the rest of my life. I’m excited to let people know that John got me back to both games and I can’t begin to recommend him enough.
I was very impressed with John Lathrop and the care he provided. He helped me gain strength and better circular motions with my shoulder. I want able to lift and raise my shoulder or move it backwards. Now I can do it with ease. I highly recommend him!
John's level of expertise is unmatched. I was sick of high-volume offices and was looking for a top PT who was one on one & know how to work with athletes. I am so grateful my doctor recommended John. He has also greatly improved my office set-up so I'm able to work a full day without back pain. Awesome PT!
I would trust John to treat anything. Whenever have a problem, he's the first person I call. My body is very confusing and it always amazes me to see how the assess things and explains them so I can understand. He's amazing.
I enjoyed the one on one hands on care John provides. He was able to get me back to running half marathons after an injury in just two months.
John has an amazing ability to analyze the body and come up with treatment solutions. He is very knowlegable and I walk out of every session feeling for better and motivated to continue improving on my health I can't recommend John enough.
Great - best therapist I've had of many.
John is very skilled and knowledgable. He's helped me with my frozen shoulder and back pain. I am always confident that John will help me get back on my feet.
John was great. He's incredibly knowledgable and helpful providing tips and at home exercises to help ease my lower back pain. You can tell he's committed to his patients recovery and is really invested in helping people.
John is very professional. He knows what to do and how. I always get out feeling much better. He helps me with my headaches, back and knees.
I would travel hours to be treated by John. I get more from one visit with him than a mark of visits with the other PTs I had. If you want some who treats with the hands, and knows what's best for your body, you should trust John.
John is super thorough in working on injured area, giving repeatable exercises both at PT and to do at home. He does a great job in explaining exercises and ensuring form is right to maximize effectiveness in treating injury. Definitely recommend!
