I realized that I wanted to be a psychotherapist after completing an externship, counseling college students while working toward a master’s degree in forensic psychology. Counseling has allowed me to help others, self-reflect, and problem-solve, three things that I like and enjoy doing. While earning my doctorate in clinical psychology, I worked with various clinical groups and conducted various types of therapy. However, throughout my career, I have found that I most enjoy doing individual psychotherapy because it is where I excel and where I believe I can help people the most.

Getting to know Dr. Jonathan Kanegson

I have been a licensed psychologist since 2007 and board certified since 2015. I realized that I wanted to be a psychotherapist after completing an externship, counseling college students while working toward a master’s degree in forensic psychology. Counseling has allowed me to help others, self-reflect, and problem-solve, three things that I like and enjoy doing. While earning my doctorate in clinical psychology, I worked with various clinical groups and conducted various types of therapy. However, throughout my career, I have found that I most enjoy doing individual psychotherapy because it is where I excel and where I believe I can help people the most.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In the first session, I will interview you and complete a clinical intake which will include your background information, the reason for wanting to begin therapy, psychiatric diagnosis and symptoms. After that, therapy sessions will focus on identifying and treating symptoms. Over time, you will develop a better understanding of your symptoms and ways to cope with them.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
