About Dr. Juan Nunez

Nunez, PT, DPT, CMP, MCMT is a NJ & NY licensed Board Certified Physical Therapist who received his BA in Biology with a Minor of Political Science at Kean University. He completed his professional training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where he earned his Clinical Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy in 2003. Dr. Nunez is a Certified Mulligan Practioner and has earned a Mastery Certification in Manual Therapy. In addition, he is well versed in Mckenzie, Total Motion Release, Specialized Functional Movement Assessment and also holds certifications in Kinesiology Taping, Ergonomics, and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization. With over 17 years of clinical experience in general orthopedics, sports medicine, industrial rehabilitation, pre-/post- surgical care, wellness training, and injury prevention, he has worked with patients of all ages and across all activity levels. During his years of practice, he found that many patients came to him after unsuccessfully being given generalized exercises based solely on their diagnoses. Dr. Nunez founded Top Choice Physical Therapy & Wellness to offer a distinct style of physical therapy where each session varies based on the patient’s response to the prescribed treatment plan. Some of his professional affiliations include the American Physical Therapy Association, American College of Sports Medicine, and the American Headache Society. Dr. Nunez is invested in providing his expertise to give back to the citizens of the community. As a husband and father of two young children, he prides himself in having the empathy and compassion to provide each patient with attention and focused care.

They won’t take my insurance. My ankle is the size of a grapefruit. They could give a f. I’m poor and not a pro athlete. Hope I can walk in a month

Juan and Rachel are both very knowledgeable and they have helped me make tremendous progress with my ankle injury. I never wait and the exercises are doable and effective. They adjust their treatment for how I am feeing or my pain level. I would never go anywhere else. I trust them completely.
Top Choice Physical Therapy has really friendly staff that are very attentive to your needs. I feel very happy coming here! The doctor is very nice and has helped me a lot with my knees. The girl in the front is also very kind and helpful.
I had initial pain in range of 7-8 out of 10. At the end its 4-5, which is good improvement. I was given wide ranges of exercises and with high intesity which helped build my muscle.
When I came to Top Choice I only came because a friend who is a Physical Therapist recommended me. The first thing I told Dr. Nunez during eval was "I am here because my friend but I made my mind up. I am having back surgery!" That was years ago and still no back surgery thank to Dr. Nunez. I came in regularly for check-ups, but I feel great!

Dr. Nunez came highly recommended to me by a friend a few years back after I had thrown out my back. He was incredible in his knowledge and treatment, as well as keeping me healthy, strong, and moving forward even after I had "graduated." When I ran into more back issues during the pandemic, I knew the best place to get treatment was Top Choice. I was treated by Ariel who lived up to the high standards that Dr. Nunez has set. I appreciate his approach and care to my unique situation, and his understanding of my goals in getting better and moving forward once I'm out of his care. I now feel comfortable visiting with either Dr. Nunez or Dr. Castro (Ariel), as they both always do an amazing job and have me leaving feeling better than I did when I first arrived.
