Hello! My name is Kate and I’m a licensed mental health counselor. I want to congratulate you on your decision to seek therapy and start making some changes, it’s not easy but definitely well worth it! If you have been feeling stuck in life or having a hard time coping with a specific event or situation then you’ve come to the right place.
My approach
I am trained in a number of therapeutic modalities and my approach is always client-centered to meet you where you are at and individualize treatment to best suit your specific needs. While I like to take a client center approach and utilize motivational interviewing I am also trained in cognitive behavioral therapy. The best way to see results is through making changes to thoughts and behaviors on a daily basis.
My focus
I have worked in the mental health field for 15 years and specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety, substance use, grief/loss, and interpersonal relationship issues. I have worked with adolescents and adults typically. I’m not one to box out any type of client and I really believe that a client/therapist relationship is a key indicator to treatment success, sometimes it’s a matter of giving it a shot to meet and see if will work.
My communication style
I like to create a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic environment. I know it can be difficult opening up and want to make my clients feel as comfortable as possible. I will challenge you in a non-confrontational matter because being challenged in therapy helps open up new pathways and increase insight and awareness.
My journey to therapy
I became a therapist to help others. I had my own personal journey of healing so I know firsthand the benefits of therapy and self-improvement. I want to be able to help others find their inner strength and work towards being the best versions of themselves. We only get one life, why waste it being miserable?
