About Dr. Kathleen Dunlap
Dr. Kathleen "Kay" Dunlap is the owner and founder of Inspire Physical Therapy and Wellness based in Maplewood, Missouri. Dr. Dunlap brings over a decade of experience as a highly skilled Physical Therapist to her practice.
Kay is considered out of network with most insurances except Medicare (plan B). This is to allow longer one-on-treatment time, quicker access to therapy, and to truly allow for a whole-body approach, which insurances frequently deny coverage for. This also allows the therapist to treat more than one condition at a time which insurances typically won't cover. Please ask before booking if you have a question about your specific insurance plan.
Kay helps her clients regain their strength and mobility so they can function independently. She customizes every treatment plan to match each individual's unique needs, lifestyle, and preferences. Dr. Dunlap earned her Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from Saint Louis University. She is passionate about manual therapy and treating balance and vestibular disorders such as BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo). She holds certifications in LSVT BIG for Parkinson’s Disease, the Hesch Method of Manual Therapy (whole body with an emphasis on sacroiliac disorders and neck pain/headaches), Food as Medicine, and Vestibular Rehabilitation.
More personally, Kay is married and has a young daughter. They live in a historic home in the city with their three cats. She has many hobbies, including baking, gardening, hiking, knitting, reading, and watching TV.

From our first appointment Kay has met me with a brilliant smile. She’s been consistently prompt, and is professional in every respect.
Kathleen knows her way around human anatomy, and is very thoughtful about how a change or adjustment in one body area can affect a completely different area.
Kay creates challenging, helpful ‘homework’ that’s well presented for clear understanding. The homework’s doable!
Most importantly, my strength and endurance have improved significantly since I started working with Kay, as my pain has decreased!

I have had two separate therapy sessions with Kathleen. The first was due to a pinched nerve in my neck. She is very good at listening and understanding what your symptoms and problems are. She was able to, in a few sessions using traction, to alleviate my problem. I am now currently seeing Kathleen on a sciatic nerve and arthritis (in my knees and right hip) issue. She has diagnosed where most of my pain is coming from and has set up exercises to strengthen and alleviate the pain that I am having. Kathleen is very professional, considerate and cheerful. She is very pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs therapy.

I saw Dr. Dunlap for a running issue after a marathon. I’m a woman in my 30s, and I needed some guidance on form and muscle imbalances and soreness. Dr. Dunlap listened to me completely, treating me with understanding and respect as we made a care plan together. If you are looking for a PT who really listens to you and partners with you on your movement and function, Dr. Dunlap will be an excellent fit. She thinks about the whole patient and considers your health holistically.
My father, a senior, has also benefitted greatly from receiving guidance from Dr. Dunlap on his posture and mobility issues. I would not hesitate to work with Dr. Dunlap again. I trust her completely with my own health and my family's health.
