Psychiatrist
NY
Do you find yourself repeating the same unhelpful patterns over and over? Do you feel stuck or unfulfilled in your personal life, despite achieving your academic or career goals? Do your relationships feel too distant, leaving you feeling alone or abandoned? Or do they feel too close or enmeshed, leaving you feeling smothered or overwhelmed? My work focuses on helping you recognize, understand, and change these long term and damaging patterns, and helping you deepen relationships while maintaining and discovering who you are and who you want to be. I also am passionate about treating issues specific to women across the life-span and received advanced training in Reproductive Psychiatry during my residency (which includes pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, postpartum, menopause, and menstrual cycle related symptoms.) I tailor my specific treatment to each patient, but mainly utilize psychodynamic psychotherapy to deepen patients awareness and create meaningful and lasting change. I also utilize CBT techniques to treat symptoms in the here and now. If indicated, and only if indicated, I also can prescribe medications to treat symptoms. About Me I am Board Eligible in Adult Psychiatry. I graduated with honors from Wellesley College and earned my Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix. I completed my Psychiatry Residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell Medical Center.

What should a new client know about working with you?

At my private practice, I am an out-of-network psychiatrist and do not participate in insurance plans. You are responsible for the full session fee at the time of the appointment (see below for my fees). Finding a therapist/psychiatrist who is the right fit for you is extremely important. To help with this, I provide a complementary 15-minute phone pre-screen consultation (see my website kathleenhanlonmd.com), so we can both see if this would be a good match for your needs. The pre-screening call must take place prior to the initial appointment being confirmed.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I tailor my specific treatment to each patient, but mainly utilize psychodynamic psychotherapy to deepen patients awareness and create meaningful and lasting change. I also utilize CBT techniques to treat symptoms in the here and now. If indicated, and only if indicated, I also can prescribe medications to treat symptoms.
