“I highly recommend Kevin for any PT needs. He was very attentive and gave a simple, straightforward set of exercises to help reduce the pain in my shoulder. I only needed a few sessions with him before making serious progress, and several weeks later, I'm still feeling much more mobility and a lot less pain.”

About Dr. Kevin Plattner
Kevin earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at UIC in 2018. His treatment approach is rooted in evidence, and follows a three-part trajectory. It emphasizes modifying movements to get out of pain. Then growing the repertoire of patterns so there are more options for how to move. And finally, getting stronger to re-acclimate to the load demands of your activity.
Kevin draws from his extensive knowledge of human movement and relies heavily on resistance exercise to assist with treatment. He is also influenced by his background in holistic movement practices including yoga and t'ai chi. His manual therapy approach includes soft tissue treatment grounded in his studies of Thai bodywork, and also employs joint mobilization strategies. Movement optimism is foundational to his treatment philosophy.
He enjoys riding his bicycle, bouldering, juggling, gardening, playing music, baking, and playing with his young children.

Can highly recommend Kevin! His sessions are thoughtful and challenging! He’s helped me regain so much strength—and confidence—in my knee/leg post a tibial plateau fracture. He is knowledgeable, personable, and encouraging.

Kevin is great. Super knowledgeable and chill/personable. He knew right away what was going on with my shoulder and how to fix it.

Loved working with Kevin! His knowledge, persistence and creativity helped me overcome nagging knee pain, weakness and inflexibility. He was able to get me back into my normal workouts — something my previous 3 PTs couldn’t accomplish. TY, Kevin!

I've seen Kevin at Vivid Physical Therapy for a few months for persistent knee pain. He does an excellent job being flexible with my cranky joints (and cranky attitude!), adjusting his treatments to me and my needs on any given day. The improvements I've seen go beyond just my mobility and acute pain I was feeling - I've seen significant improvements in my strength and flexibility as a result of my treatments. I've sent multiple people to Vivid and I've heard great things from them as well. Highly recommend!

Very positive experience. Great to work with. Had a lot of knowledge about body mechanics and how to target the areas of need. Also had some personal experience with a similar injury so was able to understand the recovery process from the patient's perspective which I found helpful. Was very supportive but also consistently challenging.

Kevin is the best physical therapist I’ve worked with in the Chicago area. He’s helped me to gain strength in my shoulder after having surgery and I’ve seen far more improvement in the last few months than I have for years. He’s very personable, and deeply understands the exercises and techniques needed to get results fast. Working out of an actual gym is a definite plus as well. I highly recommend him!

Kevin did an amazing job—highly recommend. I had serious back problems that were impacting my athletic performance. Kevin walked me through an assessment, tested my range of motion and strength, then assigned me an excellent prehab and strength training regimen. With his help my problems have all but disappeared. Great guy to boot.

I've been struggling to overcome longterm pain from a severe back strain. Kevin has been critical in helping me build up my core and strengthen my back muscles. I've seen, and continue to see, significant improvements.
I've tried physical therapy chains like ATI and Athletico. These places might be well meaning, but their approach is often boilerplate. They don't offer the kind of care and attention that Kevin offers. The time you spend with Kevin is focused, one-on-one, and tailored to whatever issue you're facing. He meets you where you're at, listens to what's ailing you, and offers a specific combination of solutions to help you feel better. His approach is down-to-earth, welcoming, and supportive. I highly recommend booking an appointment with him if you're looking for a physical therapist.

I saw Kevin for two months to rehab a broken foot and found him wonderfully attuned to my specific strengths and weaknesses. He had a lot of insight into why recovery was moving more slowly than I had hoped, and crafted a treatment plan that really worked. I recommend him highly.

I really love working with Kevin. Not only is scheduling immediate and bureaucracy-free, and he takes my insurance, but the work we do is impactful, interesting, and fun. It gives me a sense of agency in my body and reduces my pain. I would strongly recommend

I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for Kevin Plattner, who not only helped me recover from a variety of injuries to my hip, calves and hamstrings, but also played a crucial role in helping me achieve a personal-best time at the Chicago Marathon to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
Kevin's expertise was evident from the very beginning. He carefully assessed my injuries and created a personalized treatment plan that addressed my specific needs, while also taking into consideration my performance goals as a runner.
Throughout the rehabilitation process, Kevin consistently showed his dedication and commitment to my recovery. His compassion and empathetic nature made me feel supported and encouraged through the ups and downs of my healing journey, and he always went above and beyond to ensure that I was comfortable and understood each step of the process.

I've been working with Kevin now for almost 3 months following a foot crush injury that required reconstructive surgery in November, 2023. I firmly believe I am where I am in my recovery process because of Kevin's thorough and relevant knowledge base and impeccable ability to tailor a session based on what I'm hoping to work on in my recovery in addition to what he knows I need to work on to regain strength. His approach is one in which you are pushed but only in good ways and never at a pain level that's intolerable, and it's clear that he works in the context of recent and newer research and guidelines which, with such a complex injury, eased any fears I had early on after beginning to work with him.
I can't express how unbelievably happy I am to have moved forward with Kevin on what I knew was going to be a grueling recovery. If you find yourself in need of a PT, I feel confident you will also be happy working with him!

Kevin is the best! I had a rough surgery that shouldn't have happened because of a negligent orthopedic surgeon. By chance I ended up working with Kevin for my post procedural PT. Although the surgery was a disaster Kevin's post procedure care and friendship helped me more than you can imagine. He has an amazing heart and really cares for the people he treats. You wont regret seeing him.

Fantastic experience working with Kevin.
He is by far the best physical therapist I have ever worked with. He listens and carefully, clearly explains everything, creates a dynamic program to alleviate the pain, strengthen, and stretch around the areas.
I am only a few sessions in and I feel already so much better!
I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Kevin really listens to you and makes sure that you are comfortable as you adjust to attempting incrementally more difficult exercises. I am looking forward to being stronger and more mobile as my physical therapy with him continues.

I have been working with Kevin off and on since the Summer of 2020, starting with a shoulder injury from a fall. Once you find someone who can fix what ails you, you keep going back to them. He has also helped with my elbow and knee... He even worked on my back a time or two to get out a knotty spot (sidetracked from original appointment.) In addition to being skilled, he has a calm, friendly, and caring demeanor that will keep you at ease during your appointment. Working with Kevin has helped me to better understand how my body works so I can be more proactive in preventing injury. Highly recommended.

Kevin is amazing!
I thought my shoulder was dislocated or my rotary cuff was torn. Either way, I was in serious pain and ready to goto the ER.
Kevin listened carefully and calmly as I explained my symptoms to him. After asking me a few questions and thoroughly examining the impacted area, he used trigger point therapy to help resolve my pain and loosen the muscles. I’m mind blown with the results!
He has also been helping me strengthen these areas by patiently guiding, teaching and pushing me through strengthening exercises.
Im only a few sessions in and I already feel like a new person. Go see Kevin!

KEVIN IS AMAZING! I unfortunately have a lot of experience with physical therapy. Kevin was the one who made me realize that not all PT is created equal. He’s the first therapist I ever worked with who didn’t use a cookie cutter approach to treatment. He’s so knowledgable and always explains why we’re doing what we’re doing. He’s not just giving me a resistance band and telling me to go to clam shells, ya know?
I first saw him for rehab after a hip replacement back in 2021. He had me up and running in no time. He also helped prep me for my second hip replacement, which really sped up my recovery time. I’m in my early 40s and have a very labor intensive job, so bilateral hip replacement was pretty devastating for me. But Kevin was an integral part of my recovery and I’m certain my downtime was significantly shorter than it would have been.
I still see Kevin regularly to keep me healthy and stave off any injury as a result of my job. He’s the best!
