Psychotherapist
1 Carriage Ln, Bldg E Ste 105, Charleston, SC
I find meaning and purpose in my work as a therapist, and I strive to help my clients enliven their potential and live a life that they value. I aspire to create an environment that will allow my clients to gain greater understanding/clarity, acceptance, courage, hope, balance, and serenity. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them reach their goals, navigate through painful or trying times, and achieve greater fulfillment in their lives. I have a passion for marriage and couples therapy, which has informed most of my post graduate training and the specialization focus I have chosen for my practice. I have received advance training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Sue Johnson’s treatment approach for couples therapy. I offer treatment to couples in various stages of relationship: premarital, transition to parenthood, separation, and recovery after an affair or other breach of trust. I also have significant experience working with LGBTQ couples. In addition to my work with couples, I also have a special interest in treating individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationships, and adjusting to motherhood. It is my hope that through our work together you will emerge feeling more confident, capable, peaceful, and lively. Therapy is a journey, and I would feel privileged if you would allow me the opportunity to embark on that journey with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Kindra attempts to bring her creativity, humor, authenticity, and spontaneity into the therapeutic space. She cares deeply for each of her clients and will work as hard as you do to help you achieve your goals for therapy. Kindra will work with you to identify the treatment approach that is best suited to meet your unique needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Couples Therapy What To Expect? The therapist will help each individual, within that partnership, identify the dominant, destructive patterns that have ultimately kept the couple stuck. Once the patterns are identified and made to be the “enemy,” the couple can then label their cyclical patterns as destructive and stop pointing the finger at one another. The therapist helps the couple identify and disengage from this disruptive cycle of interaction. Couples can then learn to create a safe space for their vulnerable, authentic selves to emerge, which in essence allows for transformative experiences to follow. Structure/Time Commitment? Each session is 60 minutes. The therapist will meet with the couple together for the first intake appointment. After the first appointment, on a different date, the therapist will meet with each person individually once and then from thereon out, the therapist will always meet with the couple together. EFT typically takes anywhere between 12 and 20 sessions. However, each couple, as well as their presentation, is different, making this timeline a general estimation.
