About Dr. Kristen Martin

Kristen was born and raised in South Carolina. She attended Wofford College where she earned her B.S. in Biology and B.A. in Sociology in 2016. She moved from the upstate of SC to Charleston following her graduation from Wofford and attended the Medical University of South Carolina where she received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2019, graduating with honors. Kristen has always had a love and passion for orthopedic and sports physical therapy. It’s what led her to complete an orthopedic physical therapy residency with the Medical University of South Carolina in 2019. Following the completion of her residency, she pursued specialization in orthopedics becoming an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in 2020. There are less than 400 of these clinical specialists in the state of South Carolina. In her time as an outpatient orthopedic physical therapist, she has gained experience treating a wide range of ages from adolescents to the older adult. Additionally, she has experience working with people with a vast range of fitness levels including athletes up to the professional level. She thoroughly enjoys not only treating the patient with aches and pains, but the patient who aims to prevent future injury. She also has a passion for manual therapy techniques including dry needling, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilizations/manipulations, and cupping. With all things, Kristen aims to individualize all patient care to best serve the person she’s been blessed to work alongside. Outside of work, Kristen enjoys spending time with her friends, family, her English bulldog Sophie and her rescue pup Jax.
