Hi there, I'm Makisha! Makisha A. Lawrence, PsyD, PSY24152. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. In private practice, I focus on working with clients across the lifespan in an integrative fashion. My approach My approach is to create a collaborative relationship that includes your own individual experiences and strengths. My focus I have expertise in assisting clients' self-exploration. I address issues related to attachment, anxiety, depression, grief, racial identity, relationship issues, school issues, self-esteem, spirituality, LGBTQ-related issues and allyship, stress, testing and evaluation, and women's issues. My communication style It is always my goal to communicate with compassion, listen for the themes that have impacted clients, hold space for discovery, and use relational and Socratic questioning to assist in self-understanding. My journey to mental healthcare I initially began my career in people-centered work in my early twenties as a teacher's aide in special day classes. I also worked in group homes for many years. Over time, I gained interest and training as a sign language interpreter and was influenced by a mentor to also pursue psychology. I am invested in this work due to my hope in humanity and my own experiences in self-growth.
