Occupational Therapist
8609 2nd Ave, Ste 307B, Silver Spring, MD
I offer somatic therapy - body-based mental health care. I'm intentional about being fat positive, queer and trans affirming, anti-racist, kink/polyamory friendly, pagan welcoming, and anti-oppression. I'm here to help people live the life they want by embracing the body they have. Services offered include: Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) - a body-based, psychobiological approach to understanding human beings. SE™ is a resiliency-based treatment that allows us to rebalance our nervous systems, tap into the body’s innate capacity for recovery, and increase our resiliency. I'm in the advanced level of training and expect to earn full certification later this spring. Lymphatic drainage massage, also called manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) - a gentle hands-on technique to encourage the body’s natural lymphatic flow. The benefits of MLD include soothing the nervous system, managing pain, and reducing inflammation, swelling, fatigue, and stress. I'm board certified by the Lymphology Association of North America in managing lymphatic disorders. Occupational therapy (OT) - a function-focused holistic therapy to help people do the things they care about, so they can live the life they want. OT can help people learn to pace themselves, manage fatigue, and create sustainable routines for their life. I've been providing OT for people with a variety of complex health conditions and chronic illnesses since 2005. I love working with people who experience marginalization in their daily lives, and helping them access the peace and safety that can be hard to find. I also love working with people who have medical trauma or chronic health conditions, as my long experience as an OT gives me a lot to offer. I welcome adults in DC, MD, or VA for virtual care, and offer in-person services in downtown Silver Spring. Direct booking is not available on the Zocdoc platform.
