“Marc listened to everything I wanted to say about my back pains, and it was easy to talk to him throughout the session about what I was feeling. He was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to diagnose what was contributing to my back pain, and creating a plan on how to address it. I’m looking forward to continuing physical therapy with this team!”

Very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain exactly what is happening to your body. I was referred to Free Body PT and Dr. Marc Guillen for back pain. As a doctor myself, I have to be honest I was skeptical of doing therapy to get better. But my orthopedic surgeon referred me to Free Body and after a thorough assessment and one session in which Marc worked with me one on one therapy, I could feel a significant difference! Marc gave me exercises to do every day and they provide immediate relief and I can feel my back getting stronger each week. I now can walk long distances without discomfort and my back doesn’t get tied in knots so easily. And if I feel a twinge of pain I immediately do the prescribed exercises and break the spasms. I highly recommend Free Body • Steve Dayan, MD
I originally found Marc back in 2021 for a few issues related to my hip and shoulder to get back into working condition for a fitness test. Within a few months I was 100% back to normal. More recently, I developed a wrist problem where it would hurt to bend my hand back or have any weight placed against it in the same position. Through the course of a few exercises and manual therapy that was more than intense, I was able to put weight on the wrist along with mobility. Just look at the before and after photo! I trust Marc with pretty much any flexibility/mobility issue because he has all the knowledge and wants to get me back to 100% as soon as possible!
I went here to treat my back pain and related post-surgery ankle problems, after I had become frustrated with the assembly-line-like treatment from PT's like Athletico. This was a welcome breath of fresh air; even though it's a small place, the personal attention was vastly different from the larger PT places I've been to, and their manipulations / treatments were super effective. Not only that, Marc and Marisa are some of the friendliest, most knowledgeable , and trustworthy PT's I've ever met, with excellent communication and attention to detail.
I worked with Dr. Marc Guillen to resolve a periodic back problem. His attention to detail and his ability to listen and ask the right questions was important to identify my problem and recommend solutions. The office was great with private areas and a more open equipment area.
I found Free Body PT after injuring my left shoulder while exercising. After talking to a specialist he recommended PT. I'm extraordinarily glad I found Marc and Marissa. I primarily worked with Marc due to schedules but occasionally saw Marissa and found both to be extremely helpful and attentive. The first session was longer than all the others and involved a lot of questions, trying different body movements to see what my current abilities were, and describing what caused pain. After that I saw Marc twice a week for a while then after a few months it went down to once every 2 weeks. The first half of most sessions involve Marc evaluating my progress, talking about any difficulties I had since last seeing them, and then massaging/loosening tight areas. The second half of the session will generally focus on showing Marc how the exercises he assigned last time are going, doing the exercises, and then him trying out new ones. He does a good job of listening to me and taking in the information & allowing it to affect the exercises he suggests. PT takes a while but I've seen the majority of my strength and flexibility return. Overall, excellent experience with the doctors themselves. And the scheduling process is very easy to do online or in-person. I'm continuing to see Marc as my PT continues and if I ever need more PT in the future I'll definitely go back to him.
From a customer's standpoint, I couldn't ask for more. I went into the clinic looking for information and a solution to my problem. Marc found the target area and helped me overcome the regular discomfort I was experiencing for several years. He gave me tips on prevention and I can honestly say that I can't remember the last time I felt this good. I am adding to this review because I have now seen Marc for about 2 years since my original post. Since then, I have been practically pain free from my original symptoms. I have increased my exercise routine which includes playing basketball twice a week. Marc's focus on strengthening the core has really paid dividends. He also taught me a set of stretches before and after basketball. All of this has also helped because I recently became a new father. Even with all the increased physical activity (carrying the baby) my body feels great. I can't thank Marc enough!
Mark Guillen treated me very successfully 7 years ago for right knee pain and back spasms while with the Advocate medical group. When these problems returned recently after I fractured my hip, I went back to the Advocate Physical Therapy group. Unfortunately Mr. Guillen was no longer there. The woman I saw gave was inexperienced. She gave me some exercises to do that proved ineffective and spent about 5 minutes demonstrating them. No hands on manipulation of my back. So I returned to Mr. Guillen. He manipulated my back hands on, made videos on my phone of the exercises and made sure I knew how to do them correctly. After a few weeks, the resulting improvements were dramatic. He is in a class above other physical therapists I have seen in the past 20 years.
I came to Free Body because I threw my back out and was have sciatic pain into my left foot from my lower back. The pain was so bad I could not even sit, drive to work, or even do daily house chores. At first I went to a chiropractor and quickly realized that was not helping any of my pain if anything it was making it worse. Then I decided to come see Marc at Free Body. He is great to work with and actually cares about helping you. Marc can perform adjustments, gives you specific exercises to do and helps set goals for each exercise. He spends time with you and makes sure you understand what's going with you body so you don't hurt yourself again. Marc is very easy to work with, I run my own business so I understand customer service which is very important to me. I should have seen Marc before my injury which could have possibly helped prevent it. Highly recommend this place.
As a doctor, my neck, upper back and wrist are always tense. With time, this caused me a lot of pain. I had this issue for a long time until I met Marc. He is very knowledgeable and thorough. I’m amazed how much improvement I developed after 1 visit, he found the issue right away and gave me the exercises I needed. I will definitely keep returning to him. He is the best! THANK YOU MARC!
I was a patient at Free Body off and on from 2017 to 2019, and again in 2022. As a competitive volleyball player and a swing dancer, my body gets beat up. Free Body has allowed me to stay active by helping me work through pain issues on both knees and a shoulder. I couldn't imagine a better physical therapist. Marc is very personable, and his knowledge of joints, muscles, and how everything ties together is outstanding. Great suggestions on home exercises and a lot of attention to fixing the root-cause of the problem and not just addressing symptoms.
You want the BEST???? GO HERE NOW! Why? I'll tell you. I run my own biz and am at the top of my game so I know when I see someone else at the top of their game. Mark is on point. I've always been super active. This has led me to a few different physical therapists in different cities over time. This place tops them ALL. I went in for neck pain from a car crash. Marc was able to help with that as well as some other injuries that happened while I was seeing him. This place will get you fixed up and teach you how to keep from coming back from the same injuries. I have an eye for details , I'm VERY picky , can be hard to work with and I NEVER leave reviews for anything. That's how good Marc is. +++++++++++positive vibes to all
I saw Marc about some issues I was having with my wrist. He not only has a great amount of knowledge as a PT and seems to genuinely care about his patients, but he also seems to have a passion and excitement for the subject, which isn't something I've witnessed in most of my other doctor visits.
Simply put, Marc is a healer. Impatient as I am, I wanted my problem "fixed" in one session, but Marc's understanding of how the body works and his clear, careful explanation of the therapy and exercises needed were enormously helpful in understanding his process and the relief it brought. Doesn't hurt that he is a friendly and personable individual. Highly recommended.

Dr. Marc is an amazing Physiocal therapist and his skills justify his status as a "Fellow" in the P.T field. Knowledgeable and personable- he makes a treatment session as fun and indformative as a doctor visit can be. He not only treats you- he gives you a regimen to keep improving and strengthening your issue when you arent going to be seeing him. Bonus, his office staff is efficient and friendly- making billing and setting appointments an esy process. Don't miss him if you need some physical therapy treatments!
Marc is a fantastic Physical Therapist. His patience, friendliness, enthusiasm and knowledge exceeds expectations. Despite multiple chronic injuries between back, hip, leg and a ton of backlogged frustration from previous failed PT visits with Atheltico and similar clinics, Marc was able to instill confidence that together we could get me back to my preferred fitness levels. Marc truly cares about his patients and their successes. His goal is to get you out of his clinic and back to doing the things you love. He does so by listening, creating treatment plans that work within your lifestyle and finding practical ways to help you stick to your plan to ultimately reach your goals. There are very few doctors I can say I actually enjoy going to, and Marc is one of them.
If you're reading this review, Marc is the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) you need to see. He genuinely cares about your recovery and customizes your rehabilitation for your specific needs. He sets expectations and makes realistic goals for recovery. It's amazing what knowledge he has and I've learned a lot of how to take care of my body to avoid future injuries. I interviewed several orthopedics and did the same looking for a therapist. I am glad I found Marc and highly recommend him.
I injured my right deltoid doing Yoga. It wasn't unbearable, so I let it go for over a year thinking it would heal with time, and more Yoga. It didn't. Though the injury wasn't as evident as when it first occurred, I knew it hadn't resolved. It remained dormant during that period, returning to the threshold whenever I exerted tension in that shoulder. I sought out a PT and was recommended to Dr. Guillen. He was very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose the root cause immediately. I was fairly skeptical because the exercises emphasized a different part of my body than the shoulder. Though after a short time, following his recommendations, he ended up being spot on and the injury began to heal properly. I highly recommend Marc. Aside from being very knowledgeable, he was also very personable and easy to get along with.
I came in with back pain and within one visits my back was so much better everyone is so sweet and understanding it’s a super comforting place. They made sure that I was never confused and explained everything perfectly. I highly recommend.
