My name is Mark Walthofer. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the State of Pennsylvania and have been in Social Survives in one form or another for the last 40 years. I have worked with everyone from children to seniors, in services such as wrap-around, drug and alcohol, group homes hospitals, and medical practices. clinical and private mental health practices.
I am a person-focused therapist. I work together with the patient as a team member. The patient is the most important. person always, I work with and have whoever is important in the person's life join the healing process. This may be family, spouses, siblings, or school. The use of therapeutic approaches for loss, grief, cognitive behavioral, trauma, Attention Defect, anxiety, and most clinical diagnoses.
I have experience working with adults. including young adults ages 8 to 25, seniors adolescents, and families and children parodically.
My communication style is helpful, by joining with the patient in a relaxing pleasant safe environment, and clients identify and build upon their strengths recognizing that what they see as weakness is all a part of them and can be a benefit in helping them come to the realization that it is either covering up the problem and may even be something that can help solve the problem if looked at in a different way.
When I was 12 years old, we had a PCP who was a young energetic man, very involved in his work. I used to like going to visit him in his office. One day when me and my family visited, he told us that he was leaving the practice to become a psychiatrist. When I was younger, I had heart surgery, it was very scary I had to be very brave. It caused me not to be as active as other kids my age, I thought the other kids didn't like me. I could get involved with sports as they could.
