About Dr. Matthew Hinsey

Matthew Hinsey graduated from Drexel University with his Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2014 and has been a part of The Training Room team since 2014. Prior to physical therapy school, Matt graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2007 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Athletic Training and obtained his Athletic Training Certification. He gained experience working with various athletic programs at Penn State including men’s ice hockey, wrestling, track and field, and women’s lacrosse. He continued his education at the University of Delaware where he earned his Master’s of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Biomechanics in 2009. His thesis examined the differences in knee biomechanics between males and females while also working on various research projects ranging from National Institute of Health-funded knee osteoarthritis research to collecting research data for the university’s athletic programs. Matt has presented some of his research at the National Athletic Trainers’ Association’s annual national convention, earning a Master’s Award Finalist in 2010. Following graduate school, Matt worked as a certified athletic trainer in Reading, PA in the secondary school setting treating student-athletes from grades 7 to 12 for Fall, Winter, and Spring sports seasons. Matt seeks to combine his research and clinical backgrounds to provide the most current and evidence-based, yet individualized, plan of care while providing patients with information to live a healthy, active lifestyle.
