“Mike & the entire Mocean team are the besssst! Everyone is there because they genuinely want to heal people, and their holistic approach to physical therapy is a game changer. If you go in with a sore shoulder, they do a full body assessment to find the *cause* of the pain, rather than just treating the symptoms. They take time to really understand you, your body and your concerns and on top of that are all incredibly friendly and warm people. Can't recommend Mike & the team at Mocean highly enough! ”

“Mike is one of the best physiotherapists out there. Instead of trying to treat the area that is causing pain, he really looks to understand the root of the problem and treats the whole body on a holistic level. He is a pleasure to work with, always has a smile on his face and a positive attitude and is exceptionally knowledgable. ”

Everything about the experience from start to finish was great. Dr. Oaks was super attentive and patient and I didnt feel rushed whatsoever which is very refreshing, especially for a New York based doctor!

I was referred to Dr. Oakes by a close friend who got treated from him regularly and had so many good things to say about him. I went in for my chronic shoulder and back pain that I've been experiencing for some time now. Dr. Oakes really took his time to diagnose me accurately, asking me through questions about my pain and injury history. He then carefully explained the reason for my pain and long-term consequences, and planned a personal routine to help me get better. Over the course of a month, I noticed significant improvements in my pain and overall mobility. On top of having the most friendly personality, Dr. Oakes really makes you feel like you are heard and cared for. Not once did I doubt that I was in good hands, as he really walks you through the reasoning behind everything and comes up with a personalized plan that works for you. I highly recommend Dr. Oakes for his skills and amazing personality.
I suffered from low back pain for over 2 years after a pretty nasty skiing injury. I jumped from physician to physician, PT to PT, chiropractor to chiropractor, with very little success. I was in pain almost all the time and found it difficult to get through a normal day without feeling both physically and mentally exhausted. I was referred to Dr. Oakes from a friend of mine. I had very low expectations and thought my experience was going to be no different than what I had experienced in the past. Fortunately, I did end up scheduling a visit. What I noticed immediately was how detailed he was with his history taking. During our first visit, he took the time to listen to me. I can't tell you how huge that was for me. I could tell right away that he was different. He involved me in the plan of care, often emailing me simply to check in and see how I was feeling during the week. 3 months of committed work and consistent effort and I was almost 100% pain free. Within another 6 weeks I was back in the gym and doing things I honestly never thought I'd get the chance to do again. Dr. Oakes is the best PT there is and I can't say enough. If you need a PT, you will not find someone better than him.
From start to finish, Symbio Physio has been terrific to me. Scheduling, billing, and treatment were all so clear and top-notch. The team is incredible and Dr. Mike is extremely knowledgeable. He was able to connect an old injury I had almost 10 years ago to the foot pain I was experiencing. I don't know how he figured me out but within 2-3 visits, my body was feeling the best it had in years! I will forever go to Dr. Mike for all of my PT needs and will readily recommend anyone to go see him.
I came in to see Dr. Mike after a nagging knee injury kept me from running for about 2 months. I thought it'd go away on its own but when it didn't, I wasn't sure who to turn to. I came to Symbio Physio where, from the moment I entered the clinic, I felt taken care of and confident that I'd get better. Dr. Mike explained what was going on and was extremely thorough with his examination. He explained to me the importance of looking at the entire body to find the underlying source of my knee pain. Following the first visit, he walked me through every step of the process, making sure that my voice was heard and my concerns were understood. Within a month, I was back to running! Not only that, my running form was better, I was running for longer, and I generally felt way better than I did before my injury! Dr. Mike is an amazing PT and I will forever refer friends, family, and whoever needs PT care to him. Thank you so much!
Michael has helped me not only physically but make sense of my pain emotionally as well. Michael is a truly caring individual whose goal to make you better in every way
I'd given up on PT until I met Mike. He combined a sincere passion for what he does with a whole body approach that I'd never seen before - certainly not in other PT settings I'd tried. I play basketball for fun but my hip had been getting worse and worse. Previous PT just gave me hip strengthening and ice and electrical stimulation that wasn't helping at all. Mike did a thorough exam and actually found that my hip problem was coming from my neck! He treated both and I am back on the courts again (still getting pummeled, but at least having fun)! I didn't know this is what PT could be like and so grateful I found him.
Dr. Mike was great! I came to him after I injured my shoulder. He was so educational and informative. He encouraged me to ask questions and empowered me to learn about my injury instead of just giving me a bunch of exercises to do. I was also impressed with the amount of time he spent with me during the session to make sure my shoulder was healthy and ready to move. I'm so happy I found Dr. Mike and the Symbio Physio team! They are a friendly bunch of people and made each visit to welcoming. This is the best PT clinic in New York!
As a runner, I've sustained several injuries over my career. I never thought they could all be related to each other, though I had a sneaking suspicion that something was not right. Dr. Oakes took a look at my running form and was able to breakdown all my dysfunctions and injuries all in a couple of minutes. It was amazing how he helped me connect all the dots and helped me make sense of my story. I continue all the things he taught me and am continuing the work we did together to prevent any future injuries from happening. He is the best and I can't thank him enough!
Dr. Oakes is a magician and if you need PT, you have to see him. I initially went to him with neck pain that I had had for about 6 months. I saw Dr. Oakes as a referral from one of my friends and was totally impressed by his attention to detail and thoroughness. He asked me questions about my general health and wellness, even though I was going to see him for my neck! I really appreciate that he took the time to assess my entire body and not just one part of me. He was able to help me with my pain and explained things so clearly whenever I had a question. I love the Symbio team and will recommend anyone to see them forever!
