About Russell Stram

I have over 22 years of experience in healthcare as an acupuncturist, specializing in treating pain conditions, orthopedic injuries, gait problems, and repetitive strain. I have also supported people with digestive complaints, headaches, insomnia, anxiety, and fatigue. I hold a Master's in Acupuncture from Tri-State College of Acupuncture and a Master's in Physical Therapy from New York Medical College. As an avid runner and triathlete, I first experienced acupuncture as a treatment for my own injuries. Acupuncture allowed me to be pain-free and improved my energy for work and sports. As both a patient and a provider, I've learned that good results require thorough care. New patients should expect to spend 60 to 75 minutes for the initial session, while follow-up sessions can range from 30 to 60 minutes.

Russ is an incredibly thoughtful practitioner. He is absolutely the best at finding what caused an injury and using a combination of acupuncture and PT to help me on the road to recovery. I swear by his work and have done so for years.

The best of Western and Eastern medicine combined. My leg improved in short time following his direction. Prior to finding this place I shopped around a lot. I was lucky. Highly recommended. Gene Epstein

Russ has been absolutely amazing! I've seen him twice for Piriformis pain relief. He listens, answers questions and thoroughly explains everything he's doing. I tried both the chiropractor and PT prior to visiting Russ and I can confidently say that nothing has worked as well as Acupuncture! Highly recommend :)
Verified patient
My appt was really thorough and educational! Russ went through each step carefully, making sure I understood what he was doing and how my body reacted. Will definitely come back for followups.

Russ is a dedicated & empathetic healer. As an athlete, he has both the training & intuitive experience to hit all the right points.
Verified patient
Russell is by far and away the best acupuncturist/PT I've ever had. He is intuitive and thorough. As a dancer and CrossFit athlete, I have come to Russell for everything from incredibly painful plantar fasciitis to a sore or pulled muscle. He has managed to, within a few sessions, make my pain minimal or completely dissipate. I couldn't recommend him more highly.
Verified patient
Great experience... quick, painless and was provided with shorts when I forgot a pair of my own. Calming and relaxed appointment. Will go again!
Verified patient
Russ did an excellent job walking me through the "how and why" during my acupuncture treatment. Would recommend to anyone who is interested in trying acupuncture.

Everything was really great. I highly recommend. Not only did he acupuncture, but he also showed me stretches to do as well. He's super dedicated and you can tell he cares so much about helping you out.
This is my first time using ZocDoc. My first session with Russel was very professional and informative. I highly recommend him!
Verified patient
After my first visit, I have nothing but good things to say. Very professional and intelligent. Very thorough and non rushed visit. Explained what was going on and what could work to fix it and not work to fix it. Answered all my questions. Super nice guy. We'll see how PT works out but all in all so far so good.
Verified patient
My session with Russell Stram was extremely helpful and informative. Not only do I feel ten times better, but he provided me with a list of exercises to do on my own to continue my recovery. I would recommend Russ to anyone interested in physical therapy and acupuncture.
Very grateful with Dr. Stram who has so patient in listening my concerns and needs, and giving me a treatment with care and compasion.
He is knowledgeable, kind, friendly and takes his time to understand your problem. I feel much better after my first visit. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of PT

I have had hip/ and piroformis and psoas issues for 2 years plus all due from running. I am returning slowly through 2 years of PT. As PT goes, I think it's so important for the patient to seek the doctor who has personal appreciation of the issue. I needed to see someone who understands physiology, lifestyle ( past, current and future) and luckily, I found Dr. Stramm. He supplemented to what I am doing by focusing on "additional" work, not the repetitive ones, educating me at the same time. Dr. Stramm is also a physically active person and knows biomechanics which is something I also loved about him. He gets it. And he also studied eastern acupuncture, which adds to everything. Instead of the stim pads like some doctors do, he is more hands on, and uses alternative methods. I have seen Dr. Russell few times and since, I have felt better. It takes time of course, but I noticed reduction of muscle tightness relieved slowly. Doctors are not cure and someone should not be seeing doctors as replacement, but the right doctor is critical in restoring ones balance. And I think I am on my way! I really like him and his approach. He is not pushy at all. His bedside manner, his philosophy, approach is really lovely. I would highly recommend him!!!

I've had acupuncture before and visited Dr. Stram for help relieving an ache in my shoulder rotator and a running injury in my TI band. Dr. Stram was great - he is really easy to talk to and I didn't even know he was putting in the needles in my back...! He also sent me home with a bunch of stretches to do and form roller exercises. I'll be returning for more acu. soon.
The visit with Russ was great. He always takes his time with the sessions, and puts a lot of thought & care into the treatments. I really like the fact that Russ is also a licensed PT. I feel like he can help me overcome my injuries and get back to running strong again.
Russell is very friendly and easy to talk to. He made my first experience with acupuncture very comfortable. I also got to practice exercises with the pilates machine. It was great!
