“I had a very severe hand injury to where my index finger was immobilized on my dominate hand in order for the bone to heal properly. My hand was placed in a splint and all of my fingers became very very stiff. 6 weeks after surgery my orthopedic surgeon recommended Professional Hand Therapy in Bay shore N.Y. and said they do excellent work, and I agree. They are the best! I mainly saw Ryan and Nicole on my visits and I'm more close to Ryan than I am Nicole ;-), but they both are the best. They've helped me and pushed me through the pain to continue my journey on healing and gaining strength and function in my hand again. I saw other therapist there as well and they too were excellent. As well as the receptionist who was very kind. I'm going to miss the team and the candy they made available(add almond joys) for patients. Ryan and Nicole thank you so much for helping me, the best!!!”

About Ryan Doherty
Ryan's journey to occupational therapy began in the final years of his Bachelor's in Psychology program at SUNY Geneseo. He found that the holistic outlook of the occupational therapist combined the core tenets of psychology with his interest in human anatomy, movement, and function. Ryan graduated with honors from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University with a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2021. Since then, Ryan achieved his Certified Hand Therapist credential in 2025, and shortly after began his tenure as the clinical director of the Port Jefferson Village hand therapy office. Ryan employs evidence-based treatments to assist people in their recovery from injury and surgery. When he is not working, Ryan enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
