Sarah Shimanek, PT

Physical Therapist
1945 Palo Verde Ave, Ste 204, Long Beach, CA
In addition to her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Chapman University, Sarah also is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health Physical Therapy and is Certified as a Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner with the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. Basically, that means she has obtained many hours of patient care and taken some really hard tests. But her true expertise lies in her experience and the way she makes patients feel comfortable with her calm demeanor, as well as her fantastic manual skills, with many patients praising her “healing hands.” She also incorporates her training and experience in yoga therapy to help patients implement mindful movement and breathing strategies that aid healing. She prides herself in seeing the whole patient and searching for the “why” behind your symptoms. In addition to treating patients, Sarah enjoys educating the next generation of Physical Therapists and has been actively involved in the physical therapy program at Chapman University. She also created and ran a Pelvic Health Residency Program and has served as clinical instructor for many physical therapy students. Additionally, she recently served as a question writer for the Women’s Health Board Certification examination. Sarah is particularly passionate about treating patients with sexual and/or bladder pain and those healing from childbirth, as those are struggles she has experienced herself. Outside of the clinic, Sarah is a mom of two and enjoys yoga, hiking, board games, and spending time with family in the outdoors and at Disneyland. She also enjoys singing and playing bad piano.
