Hi there, I'm Shereka!
I am Shereka S. Shaw, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals who struggle with managing their emotions due to depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and traumatic events, as well as providing assistance to their families. I have also worked extensively with people who have a history of substance abuse, mood disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. I hold a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Argosy University.
My approach
I often utilize mindfulness and spiritual-based approaches, along with dialectical behavioral, cognitive behavioral, and solution-focused therapies. I maintain the creativity, flexibility, and awareness necessary to best meet the unique needs of every individual and couple I work with.
My focus
I typically work with clients struggling to manage depressive and anxiety-related symptoms that arise from various causes, most often trauma-related.
My communication style
I like to create the comfort of talking to a friend within an open and safe space. I offer empathy, humor, and realness.
My journey to therapy
I became a therapist because I love helping people. I am a great listener and very empathetic. I enjoy viewing situations from all perspectives and providing sound, encouraging advice. I also draw on my own experiences to help guide clients toward practical steps and solutions.

My goal is to find and use intriguing and creative ways to help you connect the puzzle pieces of your life as you strive to feel whole. I value open and honest dialogue because being truthful about hurt and pain is essential to healing.
