Getting to know Tammy Thieme

Hi there, I'm Tammy! I believe in creating a safe space for clients to work on their concerns. I've worked in the mental health field for 40 years and bring a varied background of experience. My approach I use a variety of approaches to give individual care to each client. I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help look at thought patterns that may be causing issues for my clients. I help them develop skills. I use a strength perspective to build on the strengths of each client. My focus I have specialized training in treating trauma, addictions, mood disorders, anxiety, and grief. I have recently had many older clients, and I have worked with them on the many transitions and challenges presented with aging. My communication style I provide a non-judgmental space for my clients. I use supportive, active listening skills. I tend to have a calming presence as I walk through challenges with my clients. My journey to mental healthcare I started working in the addiction field. I found a lot of gratification in seeing how, in a short time period, a person could make decisions that improved their physical, mental, and spiritual health. I worked with the family and children and was able to see the impact sobriety can make on a family. I then worked in the field of sexual abuse and trauma. The resilience of my clients, both children and adults, was inspiring as I was able to see them mend and grow. I then worked at a community mental health center where I focused much of my work on children, veterans, and families. I believe in the strength of the human spirit and strive to support my clients on their journey. My goals for you In partnership with my clients, we look at specific goals that they would like to meet and set up steps on how to reach these goals. Goals may change during treatment, and we may have to be flexible and adaptive to those changes.
