Getting to know Michelle Hartenstein

Michelle Hartenstein, MSW, LISW-S, is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Clinical Social Work from the University of Cincinnati, emphasizing Specialized Mental Health across the lifespan. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Northern Kentucky University. Michelle brings over 20 years of experience working in various therapeutic settings, including community mental health, dual diagnosis, inpatient, and psychiatric services in residential, private practice, and acute hospitalization environments. She began her career working with SES children and families in the foster care and dependency court system in Southeastern Ohio. Michelle currently enjoys working with adolescents, adults, and couples, utilizing a multidimensional approach. She has also provided clinical supervision for master's-level interns and dependently licensed professionals. Her areas of expertise include individual and relational issues, anxiety, depression, trauma-focused therapy, and personal growth. Michelle believes therapy is a very individualized journey where each person's biological, psychological, social, and spiritual needs are thoroughly assessed. She provides Christian counseling upon request. Michelle values the power of vulnerability and the beauty of resilience. Each day, she begins with the Serenity Prayer, asking the Lord her Savior to grant her courage, strength, knowledge, wisdom, and patience, and to be with every client she encounters to help them overcome their hardships. Therapy is a self-discovering journey, and Michelle looks forward to embarking on this adventure together. When she is not working, she seeks adventure in the beauty of nature, often found traveling, practicing photography, focusing on health and fitness, and spending time with her husband and son.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of- network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Today was my first session with Michelle and this was the first time I’ve felt therapy was going to go good. She was very warm & asked me questions that made me think of how to become a better version of myself. I highly recommend scheduling with Michelle!
