About Dr. Thomas (TJ) Martino

Dr. Martino is a licensed physical therapist and sports performance coach focused on guiding and empowering others to meet their health, fitness and performance goals. A New Jersey native, Dr. Martino received a Bachelors degree from Monmouth University and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Seton Hall University. He has certifications through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Functional Movement Systems (FMS), USA Track and Field, USA Weightlifting, and the International Youth Conditioning Association (IYCA). He is currently an adjunct professor at Kean University where he teaches in the Masters of Exercise Science program. With over 10 years of experience in the fitness industry, he has had the opportunity to work in various settings with active adults, high school, collegiate, Olympic and professional-level athletes; and, acting as the team physical therapist for NJ Sky Blue FC (2017-2019). He often draws from his experience as a fitness professional – promoting a healthy lifestyle and encouraging patients to have an active role in their treatment to ensure long-lasting results. Throughout the rehab process, he applies principles of the Postural Restoration Institute, Functional Movement Systems and general principles of sports performance to uncover the underlying cause of pain, movement dysfunction or impaired performance. It was very productive. TJ was very thorough during the entire session. He explained the streches and exercises, the intention what is was looking to accomplish and the process. My mobility started out very restricted and each session we make progress toward range of motion.
My visits are always great. TJ is always listening to what is going on with my body, and creates a plan for my time with him, as well as after the visit for the rest of the week.
T.J. was very thorough in assessing and explaining his findings with regards to my area of concern as well as informing me of other issues that are effecting my mobility. He does not throw exercises at me without explanation, I am very appreciative of finding someone who will help me address all mobility issues so I can get back to sports.
TJ was very knowledgeable and able to help with my back/hip pain. He took the time to explain why I was in pain and thoroughly demonstrate the exercises I need to do to relieve my pain.
TJ was caring, decreased my pain, and kept me hopeful the whole time. We did exercises I thought I would never be able to do 2 months post surgery. My range of motion is back and because of this help my future of lifting looks bright.
TJ is extremely knowledgeable and professional. He is helping me battle back from injuries that have held me back for years and I have already seen major improvements after a couple weeks of working with him. I highly recommend TJ to help you get out of pain.
My visits have been very helpful. I have learned a lot about my body and how I can improve my health both physically and mentally. I highly reccomend Dr. TJ Martino to anyone!
