Tristin Engels, LCP

Psychologist
CA
Hi there, I'm Tristin! Hi! My name is Dr. Tristin Engels (PSY29403), and I am a licensed Clinical and Forensic Psychologist. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Forensic Psychology from the Chicago School. My experience has taught me that the most important aspect of effective therapy is building and maintaining a therapeutic rapport. Without that, treatment success will be negatively impacted. My approach My approach to therapy is very person-centered. After an initial intake and getting a holistic conceptualization of my client, I can cater treatment accordingly. Although the interventions I use are tailored to the individual, the most common therapeutic approaches I use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed, Insight-oriented, behavioral, and strength-based. My focus As a clinical forensic psychologist, I have worked with extremely diverse and underserved populations for the majority of my career. This has been invaluable in allowing me exposure and experience working with nearly all mental health conditions, understanding cultural sensitivity, and building rapport with the most resistant clients. Although I am skilled at treating most mental health conditions, I am most comfortable working with individuals who struggle with mood disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, grief, or trauma. My communication style The goal of creating a therapeutic relationship is to build trust and comfort. It's important to me that my clients feel safe sharing with the confidence that disclosures are met without judgment. The objective is to model what healthy conversations should look like and empower individuals to assert space in their personal relationships.
