Dr. Yury Chorny, PT, DPT, MTC, OCS, began his journey when he and his family immigrated to the United States from Ukraine in 1990. They settled in Cleveland, Ohio, where Dr. Chorny discovered physical therapy after injuring his knee in 8th grade playing basketball. His dedication to physical therapy began with his successful knee surgery and transformative rehabilitation experience, igniting his commitment to helping others regain mobility and lead healthier lives. Dr. Chorny earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Over his 20-year career, he has enjoyed treating a wide variety of conditions and populations. He has worked with pediatric patients, high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, as well as patients with spine disorders such as cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacroiliac joint (SIJ) dysfunctions. He is especially passionate about treating patients with headaches and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunctions. Dr. Chorny has collaborated with orthopedic surgeons from Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati, helping patients with post-operative care following shoulder, knee, and hip surgeries, including total joint replacements. His primary passion is educating patients about their conditions and listening to their concerns, which often requires detective work and a deep understanding of anatomy and biomechanics. Dr. Chorny loves guiding patients through their journey of understanding, recovery, prevention, and improved performance—no matter their goals. He also enjoys troubleshooting and solving both primary and secondary concerns. On a personal note, Yury has two children, Nicolas and Callie. He stays active in the community and athletics as a member of the Oakwood Rotary Club and Oakwood Beautification Committee. He continues to play volleyball and basketball and enjoys water sports such as waterskiing and wakesurfing.
