Urgent care in the United States
In general, urgent care centers treat conditions that are non-life-threatening but cannot wait for a scheduled doctor's appointment. For instance, over eight years, there was an almost 138% increase in visits to urgent care centers, according to a 2018 JAMA study. The authors looked at data from patients with commercial insurance to investigate trends in the use of convenience care.
