Getting to know Dr. Abigail Murray

Hi there! I'm Abigail Murray, a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in New York and Connecticut. Therapy can feel like a rollercoaster of emotions—confusing, empowering, illuminating, and challenging. My approach is all about creating a safe space for you to explore those emotions within our therapeutic relationship. I specialize in supporting young adults and adults navigating anxiety, mood difficulties, and life transitions. Exploring questions of identity and family dynamics is my passion. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University Brooklyn, which has equipped me with the skills to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care. Outside the office, you'll find me hunting for treasures in antique shops, spending quality time with my family, or on the perpetual search for the perfect cup of coffee. I believe the key to impactful treatment lies in finding the right fit, so let's connect and explore how we can work together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

With a background including internships at North Central Bronx Hospital and a post-doctoral fellowship at Yeshiva University, I bring extensive experience to the table. From inpatient care to intensive outpatient settings, I've seen it all. Previously, I also worked with teens in crisis at Newport Academy's Bethlehem campus, integrating elements of ACT and DBT. Now, nestled in a quaint Connecticut town with my husband and two kids, I work in private practice.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I firmly believe that understanding our past can shape our present, but also that we hold the power to change our realities. Using a primarily psychodynamic framework, I integrate other approaches thoughtfully to tailor our sessions to your needs. I think the foundation of effective therapy rests on finding the perfect match, so let's connect and see if we're the right fit to journey together.
