About Dr. Alex Rothfeld
Dr. Alex A. Rothfeld, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeon now accepting appointments at our Massapequa location. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries and has published research on shoulder and knee MRI evaluation, shoulder injury scoring systems, and advanced kneecap repair techniques using knotless suture technology.
Dr. Rothfeld earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and completed his internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital. He completed a Sports Orthopedics fellowship at UHZ Miami Orthopedic Sports Institute, where he worked with the Miami Heat, Miami Dolphins, and Florida Panthers professional sports teams as well as Florida International University Athletics and Miami-Dade county High Schools.
We are excited to welcome Dr. Rothfeld to the Hart Orthopedics team and to offer our patients his exceptional level of expertise and compassionate care. At Hart Orthopedics in Massapequa, NY, Dr. Rothfeld provides comprehensive orthopedic care for patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric, with a focus on sports medicine, auto injury care, and joint pain management. The practice offers walk-ins, same-day appointments, and telehealth consultations, ensuring convenient access to care.

Dr. Rothfeld is a great doctor. He has the best bedside manner. He is knowledgeable and explains the procedures clearly so that we can understand them and feel comfortable with the treatment he recommends. He doesn’t rush. Answered our questions with patience. He is a talented surgeon. In my opinion he is a physician that truly cares about his patients and is invested in their recovery.

I had a lovely experience with the medical assistant and the PA. When the doctor came in, I felt like he was rushing me and condescending toward my concerns and very pushy about jumping right into surgery before we even had imagining done. I asked for a more conservative approach, so he stormed out to get my script for PT and never even came back to see if I had any other questions. The PA brought me my script and sent me on my way. My gut was really uneasy, like he just wanted to make a buck off me for surgery. Definitely going elsewhere for a second opinion.
