Dr. Alexis Hinds, MD

Dr. Alexis Hinds, MD

Psychiatrist
CA
I received my MD from Stanford University; subsequently, I completed my General Psychiatry training at the University of New Mexico and my Child and Adolescent training at the University of Miami. These latter two programs were very psychotherapy-focused, particularly psychodynamic and CBT. These programs emphasize that comprehensive psychiatric treatment involves not just medication, but also therapy. I have a special interest in ADHD, child and transitional-age mood and anxiety disorders, as well as disruptive behavior disorders. I have extensive experience working with children and adults in crisis settings, as well as in residential treatment and telepsychiatry settings.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In order to offer my patients the most appropriate treatments, I believe firmly in performing a rigorous diagnostic assessment. The results of this assessment are then discussed with my patients, and we work collaboratively to create a treatment plan tailored to his or her individual needs. When working with children, I believe it is essential that both the child and the parents’ preferences be honored. If everyone agrees that medication is indicated, then my preferred approach is generally to use the fewest number of medications at the lowest possible effective dose(s). The primary goal of my practice is to help my patients get better as quickly as possible using the best available evidence-based treatments.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
