Professional Achievements and Associations: Member of the Illinois Optometric Association; Member of the American Optometric Association. The reason I became an optometrist is: I really enjoy going to vision therapy as a child. When I was 7 years old, I would have problems seeing double after reading awhile. I was amazed after a few months of training, not only did my reading improved, but I was no longer getting headaches after reading for a long period of time. I knew when I became older that I wanted to be a doctor and help children and adults achieve their vision goals as well. My favorite part of helping my patients is: to explain things clearly so my patients can be part of their treatment plan. There are a lot of options in medicine today that we didn't have in the past. I want to make sure my patients understand the options, so we can select the best treatment for them. In my spare time, I enjoy: walking and biking with my husband and two kids. And this last year, e learning for school with my 3rd and 5th graders. It's been challenging and rewarding all at the same time.
