About Dr. Alicia Salzer
*If you have UnitedHealthcare/Oxford, please do NOT book through Zocdoc. I am not in network ANY insurance plan. Thank you.* I am an Ivy League trained Psychiatrist with 20 years of clinical experience. I believe most people benefit from observing the ways in which their coping strategies may be falling short or the unseen ways they may be undermining their own success. I believe working with a Psychiatrist should be motivating, empowering and interesting. After graduating from Univ of Pennsylvania I attended medical School at Cornell and Psychiatric Residency at UCLA- Harbor. I utilize a structured approach in which we set goals and learn skills that will help you get back to the place you want to be quickly. Most of my patients are successful, educated, highly motivated people who suffer from Depression, Anxiety, Sleep Problems, Marital Issues, Sexual Issues, ADHD, OCD, Substance abuse problems, or issues relating to work/life balance. I have extensive experience with the demands of corporate careers as well as the challenge of balancing career growth, personal growth and family time. I have worked extensively with Ground Zero rescue workers and volunteers and am an expert in helping people cope with and overcome substantial life challenges. I am the author of a book called "Back To Life: Getting Past Your Past with Resilience, Strength and Optimism" and have appeared on CNN, Anderson Cooper, Dr Salzer Oz and many other TV and radio shows as an expert in my field.

Patient reviews for Dr. Alicia Salzer
I feel good about being under her care.
I'm still traumatized from my experience with her. She is very abrasive and not very warm. She can be helpful sometimes but overall I felt anxious going to sessions because of her bedside manner. Even so, that is not what concerned me most. Her only form of communication outside of the office is over text, which feels really intrusive since you never know when you are going to get a message and what tone she might take. She can be very rude and unprofessional over text and makes it very clear that if you ask for anything any second you are outside the office, you are wasting her time (something she said to me). She could text me at any hour about billing but I couldn't send inquiries without getting attitude. I decided to stop seeing her after a few months because she told me off over text for telling her my billing info had changed. She then literally ghosted me when I asked for a receipt for my last visit until I assured her I would leave her alone once I got it. She caused me a lot of anxiety because of her behavior with me over text. I hope I never have to hear from her again.
God awful. I have never felt so terrible, robbed of my time, and SAD leaving this office. To start, the patient before me went fifteen minutes over and in return, my (supposed to be) thirty minute session was cut short to fifteen MAYBE twenty minutes. Feeling absurdly upset, I quadruple checked the timing on my messages to a friend while sitting on on the couch before entering. Yep- twenty minutes MAX. She asks you to leave the date blank and photocopies your insurance sheet every time you go in. Demands you pay with cash, and only has mid day openings for those going through insurance. She cut me off multiple times, and it was just those short few minutes before prescription talk was on the horizon. Never again.
Dr Salzer is an outstanding diagnostician and therapist. She is warm, sympathetic, knowledgeable, and results-oriented.
She is always full of knowledge. I’ve learned so much from her in such a short period of time.
I have never felt more judged and dismissed in my life.
Dr. Salzer was incredible helpful. She has a warm and welcoming demeanor which made me feel at ease. Dr. Salzer was also able to provide very relevant information which I was able to use in my daily life. I highly recommend !
She doesn't know how to speak kindly over text. She has no room for people's changing schedules. NO Flexability! If you have the insurance she takes - you get better treatment times - which I think is immoral. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND.
She was so attentive and listened to all my concerns. Unlike other doctors I've been to, she didn't make me feel bad about my issues and was not judgmental. Really happy I found her :)
Very kind, considerate, gives action items to work towards. Easy-going.
I thinks she’s amazing. She’s very friendly and down-to-Earth. She doesn’t make it harder than it might need to be. I would definitely recommend her.
Very informative and to the point. Recommended
Dr. Salzer was fantastic. She genuinely understood me and wanted to hear what I had to say. Most importantly, she was in no rush to start prescribing medications left and right, which a lot of psychiatrists will do. She is awesome.
Dr. Salzer is one of the best therapists I have ever had. She is warm and had great ideas
Be aware of 7 day cancel policy! I was a new patient. Saw her Monday. Hoped to see her again in a week. Had to change with 2 kids and a wife battling crohns and colitis, still she is charging me a lot of money out of pocket for 7 day cancelation policy (canceled 6 days!!!) “Zero exeptions.”
I have been a patient for almost a year. Dr. Salzer is kind and compassionate. She asks important questions and encourages practical personal growth.
Dr. Salzer is an excellent therapist.
Dr. Salzer seemed to be knowledgeable but she was focused more on financial logistics rather than my treatment. The last session that I had with her barely lasted for 20 minutes and she asked me about payment method after my question was addressed without even initiating other issues/questions to complete the session. I have never seen such an inconsiderate doctor and I would have expected a little bit more dedication than she had. I was told that I could text with any questions in case of emergency yet to find out that the doctor was so busy to reply to my message in a timely manner. I usually do not leave bad reviews; however, I was so disappointed that I thought it was worth to leave a note giving the fact that other reviews seem to be exceptional. If you check yelp or healthgrade, reviews are slightly different from this website. The good news is that she is indeed a good doctor but is focused too much on discussing her policies during therapy time. In my opinion, she seemed to be very arrogant. This was my only time when I met anyone like her in this industry and I still have bad impression about her.
Terrible bedside manner. Condescending. Do not recommend.
She was absolutely a delight cant wait to work with her !!
She is amazing
She is amazing!!!
She is amazing!!!
This was my first time seeing Dr. Salzer, and I basically speed-talked my way through it to try to impart as much information as possible within the allotted time. She was very welcoming and kind, as one would hope, but she is also clearly very knowledgeable and able to cut through the verbiage gently, but firmly. The office is quiet and very pleasant, and couldn't be more convenient for me, so I'm hopeful that this was the beginning of the end of a long uphill slog for me. I feel that I can trust her already, and that, to me, is critical. Thank you, Dr. Salzer. It was a pleasure meeting you.
Caring, compassionate, resoectful and understanding. I feel like I now have a plan.
She is amazing and I have already recommended her to my friends. I hope they are calling her.
Wonderful connection/meeting. Looking forward to working with her.
Dr. Salzer is amazing, and I highly recommend her. She is intelligent, thoughtful, easy to converse with, and has helped me over the past few years through some difficult times.
Dr. Alicia's nuance for rooting out your concerns (ones you didn't even know you should/could/would have, trust me.) and working together as a team, is impeccable. Life saver for both my best friend and I.
First therapist to ever ghost me! Tried to schedule follow up appointment and she never got back to me.
Thorough and thoughtful. Very easy to talk to. Im glad I got the opportunity to meet Dr. Salzer.
Dr. Salzer is very conscientious and genuinely concerned about her patient's overall wellbeing. She has helped me tremendously. I strongly recommend her. Caron
She didn't take my insurance so I was concerned about the cost. However, if you can handle it -- well worth the money.
I am sad I can't see her anymore because of my insurance change but I recommended a good friend to her already! She is fantastic
Wow, one of the worst Dr's I have ever seen. Made me scared for my safety when I left and a week after.
Alicia is always very helpful and effective. Truly cares.
I think she is amazing so far!
Great first impression. Responsible, Thorough, Thoughtful, Direct & Caring. Left feeling like I was in good hands and I've found a good co-pilot with a clear road map.
She just got it right away
Exceptional care. If you have an insurance plan that she is in-network with, you have found your doctor. Without insurance - her out-of-pocket costs are high but in-line with costs throughout the city. I pay her full fee without hesitation.
Great practical advice. Good listener.
I have been seeing Dr. Salzer for two or three years. I have seen a lot of therapists in the past 14 years, and she has been one of my favorites. She is attentive and receptive, but also participates in the sessions and offers valuable feedback and insights. She's a very friendly and calming presence, without coming off as not genuine or fake. I appreciate that she contributes her own background, education, interests, and experiences, rather than completely removing her own identity from her treatment.
The only downside of her practice is how far ahead of time her appointments are booked up, and that my particular insurance means a more limited window to schedule.
Good doctor, but a bit of a crook.
Need more time. 30 mins is not enough !! Went well today. May have rated higher but I am new to her as a patient and I don't know if I would recommend yet. Don't see why I wouldn't though. After 2 visits, I feel as though j want more out of my sessions with her.
She was warm and approachable, and helped me begin to map out a very balanced and reasonable plan of treatment. So far, so good!
