After graduating S.U.N.Y at Stony Brook Medical School, Dr. Stanciu completed her Ophthalmology residency training at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in New York in 1985. She now specializes in Retinal diseases, Advanced Cataract Surgery, Glaucoma, Laser Surgery and Lasik.
Dr. Stanciu is a board certified Ophthalmologist with over 18 years experience in specialized medical and surgical eye care. Dr. Stanciu is both widely recognized and highly regarded for her ability to provide expert medical and surgical care, combining advanced medical specialization with warmth and sincere human empathy.

Went for an eye test that we should actually have gone to an optometrist though they are also done by ophthalmologists. With all the background information given on the registration form, we were told that these tests are not done here hence prescriptions will not be issued but if you insist we could do it for an additional charge (insurance covered the visit only). She also suggested several other tests which we did not really want at the time, probably according to the medical history provided to them at registration time. We felt like being commercially used. Her attitude/behavior was also not very pleasant. Wouldn't go there again

Horrible. Everything was horrible. You make an appointment but get seen 2 hours after your appointment time. The front desk told me not to make an appointment thru zocdoc because it's confusing for her. Dr. Stanciu was okay.
In my opinion, the treatment which I received from the doctor was very unethical and unprofessioanal. The doctor had two young clerks do all of the the eye tests unsupervised while the doctor was in another room. I looked on the walls to see if the clerks had liscences posted but I didn't see any certificates other than those of the doctor. When I saw the doctor, she immediately suggested cosmetic surgery. Her whole demeanor changed to indifference when I refused cosmetic surgery. I asked for my prescription and was told by the doctor that she wasn't giving it to me unless I bought glasses from her. After showing me several frames that I didn't like, she commemted " you are too picky". She again refused to provide a perscription. When I insisted that the reason I came was to have my vision tested, she used my current glasses to measure and write a prescription and told me that she would give me the prescription but that she wasn't validating the prescription to be correct. She kept shouting in a loud voice that she didn't charge me for the vision test. I kept asking her why not since I produced my insurance. I now have to go to another doctor to do a proper vision test. I would not recommend this doctor.
I wait there for 2 Hours and 45 Minutes to see the Dr. It was horrible experience. Not only me some other patients were frustrated too.

I had no issue with Dr. Stanciu as a doctor. However, I thought she was very unprofessional. During my first visit, while I was in the waiting room I heart Dr. Stanciu on the phone screaming at someone from a pharmacy. That should have been a closed door conversation. There's no reason that patients in the waiting room should be subjected to that. And then for my second appointment, I arrived to a packed waiting room (literally only one open seat) and I was told that Dr. Stanciu was not in the office, was running late, and the office was not sure when she would be back. I come to find out that one family left because they were waiting THREE hours. That is completely inexcusable. I understand that doctors are people and have emergencies, but in that case patients should be given a heads up and given the opportunity to reschedule. I was lucky enough to only have to wait 45 minutes to be seen but after Dr. Stanciu rushed through my appointment she gave me me own chart and I had to ask if she wanted me to give it to the front desk. I just find it odd that a doctor would hand you your own chart with no explanation as if you're an employee. Needless to say I will not be returning to her office.

Dr Stanciu and her staff were Excellent. They also do glasses there so it saves me the hassle from going to different places to get my glasses.

I had an appointment at 12:30, I didn;t even up leaving there until around 3:30..and it was for a simple routine check-up. The only thing I would say was nice of the doctor was that she was willing to give me a prescription in case I didn't buy glasses there. In my opinion, that isn't very nice but should be protocol for a doctor - for people that cannot afford their supply. Altogether it was not a pleasant experience. An older man (senior) left because he was tired of waiting so long, and it was completely overbooked. Probably won't return there. I also had to refill in new patient information even though it was sent there through this website, and they also said they did not accept the insurance that I made an appointment under.. I guess that was a mistake on zocdoc?
I should have known not to go back here after I had a negative experience at my first visit 3 years ago. The first thing the doctor said to me at both visits was to ask me several questions about my insurance. She then lectured me about why I shouldn't book appointments on ZocDoc because they 'don't really do' contact lenses and glasses because she's a specialist and how I refuse to communicate. She was exceptionally rude and rushed through the appointment to get me out the door - frankly, I have no idea if the prescriptions she gave me are going to be correct. The receptionist called 45 minutes ahead of my appointment apparently very confused and trying to move me around. She hung up on me when I said I'd be there in 10 minutes, then when I got to the office and said 'excuse me' to get her attention I was told "Yeah, I see you, sign in" and nothing else. I wasn't told ahead of time that they'd be dilating my eyes, I didn't sign any kind of form saying it was okay to dilate them, and I didn't bring my glasses with me (another thing I was berated about). They didn't give me dark glasses to wear for light sensitivity and I even had to ask whether I could put my contact lenses back in. I walked home pretty much blind. Don't go to this doctor. They're not interested in helping you, they're interested in billing your insurance.
It was good. Unfortunately for me it was a busy day as I came over the weekend. Things were a bit rushed, like an assembly line. This was easily forgiven as the doctor was extremely friendly and took interest in me personally. Also, as I said earlier, I came on a weekend.
She's rude! And not careful, she basically poked me in my eye with the pressure drops and got mad because I told her I already had glasses from another place
My appointment time was 11:45am and I was on time but I waited until almost 2pm. 3 people came after me but got to see the doctor before me. The management in the office was not efficient.

Doctor was extremely rude and very condescending. She was very upset when I couldn't keep my eyes open long enough for her to do an exam. She told me that even a child was able to do what she was asking me. She kept sighing and then refused to treat me after I told her she was being rude. She would not return my co-payment although she refused to exam me. She yelled at another patient that went in right after me because she asked for Latisse. My experience there was absolutely awful. there is no parking outside either.
The office was tight, but the staff warm, quaint, and engaging. Granted,I was expecting a taller woman, I will definitely be keeping Dr. Alina as my ophthalmologist.

I was completely shocked at how unprofessional she was. She never introduced herself, so I was unsure that she was even the doctor at first. She was nasty and rude and does not work well children! My husband and myself are both in education and hold our children to a high standard, however during the 3 mins she was in the room she proceeded to call my son a "bad bad little boy". I was utterly shocked at her demeanor and attitude. She than continued to ask more questions out in the hall/waiting area, never fully giving us her attention. I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect from any other doctor. Also after this experience the amount she charged was ridiculous. I have been telling everyone that will listen about this awful experience. My opinion I wouldn't have a doctor like this on my website.

She was very friendly. I had a cosmetic botox and juvederm injection. I was quite bruised and a bit uneven after the juvederm injection, but she corrected it free of charge 3 weeks later. I barely noticed the effects of the botox.
Do not go to this woman. She is a racist! I am asian, I came to her for a simple botox procedure for frown lines, she did not ask me why I came to see her. As soon as I sat down, she said that I need an eye lift because "oriental" people have this problem, I said no, this is not why I came to her but she INSISTED I needed to have my eyelids lifted. I am so offended I will NEVER go back there again. She is rude, extremly pushy as to what she thinks is best, not what the cliet want....DO NOT GO TO HER!!!!

Staff was very accommadating. Amazed, at their language skills. They spoke a few different languages.

My appointment (first one of the day) was 10:45 am. The doctor didn't come in to the office until 12:30! She saw me for literally 3 min and that was it. The staff was ok. Would be nice to inform packed waiting room of patients that the doc is running late. What helped was the staff doing different tests on me while I was waiting so at least something was happening. The office was nice but too small for so many patients. Because it was Saturday and I had time to wait I was patient but any other day I would walk out after waiting for an hour for doc who's wasn't even there.
Professional doctor, knows what she is doing. However was beyond that late, which we are always prepared in the medical offices. Intimacy - 0, door is open, nurses walking around starring at you, doc seems to be in rush even if just came. Definitely will treat you, but do not expect anything more than that

She was very pleasant, and the staff was efficient and friendly. She explained well and i was out pretty quickly after being seen. The staff also made sure my son was comfortable. I would recommend her.
i was at her office a few weeks ago. it was a verry pleasant atmosphere, the doctor was verry thorough and efficient. the staff is nice and verry polite. there is a waiting time but it worth it. that meens peaple go to her because she is realy good!!!!!!!! i would recomand this dr to everyone
Taking first come first serve walkins isn't fair to those who make appointments. Walking in on time to almost one dozen people waiting before you tells me that you're offering a less than normal level of service.
She's good at what she do but she rushes and don't take the time to help. The waiting time is unbearable, you are waiting long time, which I hate.
She is very unprofessional. She was 40 min late and she didn't even apologize when she came in . My appointment was in the afternoon and when I came in there was no place to stand not even talking about seating . Overall the worst doctor I been to. She said I should start using Botox even thou I am in my 20's .
I set this appointment up for my mother because of her cataract issue. Dr. Stanciu was amazing, she was so friendly and personable midway through the examination my mother looks over at me and says "Oh my goodness, is this the doctor? She's so young and nice, I thought she was a nurse". lol We had an amazing experience and her surgery is all set up and were excited about my mom seeing clearly again. Mom left the office smiling which is rare when leaving a doc's office.
I waited for so long so that she could just see me for less than 5 minutes, her attitude was like she didn't care. Her office is so small and it was really hot outside she didn't even have a fan or air conditioning so everyone was sweaty and hot.
There are other professionals that provide better service to clients. Her attitude was indifferent, abrasive and rude. She asked me a question and in the middle of my response she started another conversation with a member if her staff. She doesn't listen, so there is no point in returning.
The overall atmosphere was sufficient, but what turned me off was the smell of smoke in a doctor's office. The doctor was fine. She was patient and listened. When my visit wrapped up she handed me my folder and balanced my prescription ontop. Maybe I have been lucky to have great doctors up until this point who usually hand my folder to an assistant or hand it to the front desk... but this still seemed strangely impersonal to me because I wasn't sure what to do with it, and especially when the front desk was literally 4 feet away from where she sat, outside of the exam room door. My appointment finished with the front desk telling me they do not take credit cards, only cash or checks. Needless to say I will not be returning.
I love her. She is so nice and caring. Very close to the train. Be carefull if you drive because I got a parking ticket. Next time I will take the train because the eye drops made my vision blurry so I had to wait and hour before getting in the car and forgot to put money in the meter
