What makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider?
Being a healthcare provider allows me to nurture my desire to help others and to have a genuinely fulfilling role in my community. I look forward to forging strong doctor-patient relationships based on compassion, sincerity, and respect.
In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs?
The predominant role of the PCP should be to advocate for their patients’ overall well-being. Your provider should be able to utilize the entire health care system and its resources to provide you with the health benefits you need.
Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy music festivals, live performances, traveling, and basketball.
I earned my Doctor of Medicine from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. I completed my residency in Internal Medicine at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York, Stony Brook.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Katyal and could be more pleased. My previous mental health provider had the worst bedside manner. I tolerated it for a while, however after some time I decided to find someone new. I’m so glad I did. Dr. Ketyal is kind, patient, attentive and actually takes the time to listen to what you (the patient) is dealing with. I highly recommend Dr. Ketyal.
