Dr. Amanda Carr, PsyD

Psychologist
CA
Hello, I am Dr. Amanda Carr, a psychologist licensed. I obtained my doctorate degree (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Having lived in several states across the U.S. I have gained experience working with individuals of different ages, backgrounds, and cultures. Although I possess a rudimentary knowledge of languages other than English, I am a monolingual (English) treatment provider. Treatment Experience: My clinical experience has included, but is not limited to, depression/mood disorders; anxiety; adjusting to life changes; dealing with physical injury and recovery; psychosis; exploring issues of faith (Christianity/Judaism); grief (including loss of beloved pets); escapism behaviors (video games/fantasy), etc. [Although I have expertise in psychological testing and court-ordered evaluations, I am not currently conducting psychological testing or evaluations for the court.] My Treatment Approach: As a psychologist, I am here to support you in reaching your goals and living your best life. My support comes via empathetic listening, reflecting, and a variety of evidence-based therapeutic interventions. I am a simultaneously friendly, caring, creative, and no-nonsense kind of psychologist. Although I show compassion/understanding, utilize humor or creativity, I may need to confront and challenge unhealthy thoughts or behaviors that are hindering your progress. Depending on your treatment needs I may utilize interventions from: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and/or others as deemed appropriate. “One Size Fits All” may work for T-shirts, but not for therapy. I believe people are unique individuals with varying strengths, weaknesses, and life experiences—so, my therapy sessions are tailored differently for every individual.
